It occurs to me that we could all go to Peach Park and have bbq & ice cream & peaches together. Well, why not? Clanton is in the middle of the state. LOL Seriously, My Sailor will be home from A school pretty soon & then he goes to Mayport. It'll be awhile before he's back up here, I am sure. My baby is at MEPS today. Long day for him & for me too.

I appreciate the support ya'll. She shipped out this morning, currently waiting at the airport for her flight. I managed to say goodbye with a smile on my face (largely due to a major breakdown alone in my hotel room last night!)

angellee, see my comment below. I can't tell you how important the cards & letters became as the weeks went by. You may get a phone call or 2 like when she passes Battlestations, but the every stuff they write in their letters is priceless. Also, go to her PIR no matter if you're in a body cast! It is one amazing experience.

My daughter leaves for BC Tuesday (7/19). We are going down to Montgomery tomorrow with her and will see her swear in at MEPS before she's gone.  Any advice for me?

Hey Alabama friends--I have been reading posts from bc moms & I cannot believe that I was where you are just last spring! Keep writing letters, be a cheerleader if the phone call is less than joyful (on their end) and look forward to PIR being the best day of your life. Also, look forward to the trip home from PIR being the worst day of your life. LOL but it gets ok. I got a call from my A school Sailor last week. We talked for 30 minutes. He likes his classes, and graduation is just around the corner (August). Then he gets to come home for a few days . . . I understand there's a lovely sailor girl who will visit us, too . . . and that's fine with us. Then it's on to Mayport for my kid. After you've driven to Illinois and back, a visit to the Florida East Coast doesn't seem like much at all. So smiles all around here. One new development, though, and I ask your prayers and well-wishes: My #2 son, my Sailor's baby bro, has enlisted in the Army. His MOS will be infantry (gulp), and we are in for a long DEP. Then he heads to Ft. Benning. Here we go again.
