Lydia...Thank You !! You are exactly right...I had a great chain of events happen...Miraculously, Bonnie texted me and gave me Jans #..I txtd Jan and she called me..While I was talking to Jan, my son beeped in..poor Jan, I almost hung up on her I was panicking over getting the call...It was just as you said. There isn't a phone in the building and he finally got to the NEX this evening to use the phone and he was pleasantly surprised to see they have computers to use also..He said it has been chaotic and they are on hold for 6 months...eeek...He said he met your son and he thinks he is just amazing. I said he sounds like his mom and I thought my son said he spoke to you but I may have misunderstood him...He is so happy to have B and R as friends...he raved about what great guys they are...I said their moms are wonderful too and I am so grateful to have them !!!!  He is looking forward to phase 2 which he said will be better...he likes it already but it will give him freedom to get a computer and wear civvies..When we got off, I called Jan back and we had such a nice conversation...I am so relieved and so amazingly grateful for the support and encouragement...Thank You Thank You and did I say THANK YOU !!! xoxoxoxo

Navymom... he should have gotten to Pcola with Jans boy.. they were delayed but got in a few days ago....  did he have a calling card or cell??  Honestly when they first arrive there it is chaos for the first week... then it settles down.. soo my advice is hang in there... Im trying to remember ... I think I spoke with my son about 3/4 days after he arrived..  They do not allow them much freedom while they are Phase 1.  similar to BC especially if they are Spec Ops!  But it does get much better and more relaxed at Phase 2.. That takes about 2/3 weeks....  so NO panic... he is getting settled and into the routine!  Ill bet you will hear from him this weekend... remember it is still a shuffle for them for a while!  he is fine momma... if not you would have heard...  Hey they could have put him right away on duty section or watch!  they get NO time to frateranize or call when that is the case... It will get better I PROMISE!!!!!!!!   =0)

Sugarscoop,

I know what ya mean...I LOVED the Meet n Greet...but oh how I wished fdor MORE time. There were so many monns that I didn't get to chat with! I was in a TOTAL funk on Monday...I am much better now!

My room at the Ramada was nice...and as for the alleged musty odor...tye drains in the bathroom smelled wicked bad when the water was running, otherwise NO problem! The staff WAS awesome.

 Hey moms...

I LIVE for my nightly texts from my sailor. Got his address and the care packages WILL commence. A while back someone asked about care packages and shipping discounts. I inquired at my P.O and was told that in using the flat rate shipping boxes, there is an automatic $2 discount when the P.O. sees the military zip code. Cool, huh!!

I'm am getting a bit concerned..Maybe it's normal but it seems like pretty much everyone on here has heard from their sailors but I haven't heard from mine. I know he was dealing with flight delays and cancellations going to Pensacola but the only time we heard anything was wed. morning about 6am that he was at ohare. He got off the phone to go to the mens room and he was going to call back but we never heard another word..Now it's friday and I'm not sure what to do if anything...He has always been reliable about touching base so this is unusual...Jan, I think he would have been with your sons group..If you hear anything, please let me know. I know you had heard from your son and he had arrived, so I am sure my son is there too...He doesn't have a cell or anything since we haven't spoken to him to get an address..His birthday is this weekend and I was hoping to have the freedom to call him but that won't be possible now...I thought by this week the jumping through hoops to answer the phone and the frustration in that department would be over !!! Nope..still flying over people and objects and taking the phone everywhere...I have a feeling that this is just a new part of life...mama mia...lol...
