Just heard from him! He is now at Ohare waiting to go to Pcola. He said they shined their boots all day yesterday, waiting for better weather so they could leave Chicago! Only it's going to be cold down here too. 30's and the wind chill make it in the 20's. But it's a little better than Chicago. I know the sun felt a lot warmer than up there.

Thrilled that my son already sent me pictures of his new room in Goose Creek SC.  Makes such a difference to see pictures of where he is living.   School doesn't start but he is starting to study on his own now.  I sent him a link to Flash card exchange which brought me to a list of electronic flashcards for NAVY Nuke school. It is so rewarding as he is praising the education he got that has prepared him for the grueling work ahead - mastery of memory work has been our theme of education and I am glad he is carrying it on already and not waiting the extra 3 weeks.

Yes. I'm very happy, she called me using a pre-paid cell she purchased at Nex store. She gave me her new mailing address to mail out her cell phone and a few items. Sounds like she was having a good time with her friends. She said A school doesn't start till the 18th of January. Her grad day is March 16th and hopefully, if all goes well she gets to come home for 10days or so before she heads to her station.  Can I ask a dumb question?? Once she goes to her assigned station does she stay there for 4yrs??

Lydia- I will post some pictures at the MnG. Right now I feel like crap- got a little more sick than I was before graduation, and with working today, I am exhausted. My daughter put the pictures on her FB, so you might be able to peek at hers.

Love all the pictures...I have to say it was a GREAT weekend but have to agree it was hard to return them Sunday!  Very awesome being able to talk to him every day now!  Love A-School.. :)

I remember each night, I hated her to return to base..but when I seen her courage, her strength and witness the camaraderie among her close Sailor friends made me at ease knowing its her second family too.
