Okay, I read my comments from yesterday.  Did I say "seriously" enough?  lol

I didn't mean it to sound like a rant but I guess it turned into one.  It's about finding the right balance with this new relationship.  I was on the SA facebook page and was talking with a girl that has been dating a sailor for 4 years.  She has a great relationship with her bf's mom.  How old is your son's wife?  Is she living in Norfolk or somewhere else?

Me personally, I would be there to welcome him home.  I can't imagine him not wanting you there.  Does he have a ship email?  I know it's down right now, but send him an email with only positive thoughts.  My son emails me, but never calls, because he has access while at work.  Reach out to your DIL and see if you two can find some common ground.  I've watched a friend of mine go through this.  She wasn't "allowed" to talk to her son, per gf's instructions.  If she wanted to talk to him, she had to call the gf first and then she would have her son call.  They didn't speak for almost 3 years because of this girl.  They are now getting married and the relationship is better.  Good luck with this and I'll be praying for you and them.

Cyndi, it takes about 4 weeks minimum for my son to get a package, so send away.

All the guys in my son's division are married.  Some got married right before deployment.  He's 24.  He said some of them got married so they would have someone to talk to while deployed.  I really hope it isn't true.

Where are you going to be coming from?

Hi everyone!
I am in Gainesville, Fl helping my daughter to move to a new apt. Not hearing anything about the ship for now. So maybe as my father says " No news is good news"!
Linda- Congrats to Nick for his ESWS pin!! I have been reading about it and it is really an achievement and in the first try!!!
And congratulations to all our sailors who got theirs too!

Cyndi...What a blessing you will be to a foster child.Nothing heals your soul like holding a baby!

I want to go to the homecoming, flying cross country or a drive, then a place to stay, I will start putting some information together to see if it is possible.

I love my son with everything I got. I looked forward to gaining a daughter I never had, and grandkids.    Now all I do is trust God.   On a better note:  We had our second meeting to be foster parents.  I have always wanted to be foster mom and maybe adoption later.  So someday I may have the big family I want.

Juju, I found these really neat stylus for my phone, except it doesnt have a point on it.  It has a rubber so it doesnt scratch.  I love it.  I will get one for you.

I found a site through the navy to send an email to the ombundsman.  I requested to be put on the email list.  I will also follow through with the address you gave me, and also ask her about the FRG.

I love sewing and embroidery sometimes silk screen.  So when there is a project please make sure I know.  I found out about the pillowcases too late.  But that is part of the reason I had asked and still need to know if I sent  a box to my sailor, do you think he will get it before they arrive home?

Oh, and another thought....If you let a pattern set, you might kick yourself later.Being the mom of all sons is tricky.I am a very flamboyant type of person, and I sometimes feel like I should tone it down, but it took me a long time to really accept myself, and it just bugs sometimes......Let's not even get on the subject of mother of the groom dresses! Such freaking drama! Never thought I would cry myself to sleep because the shade of dress I got was too close to the fat bridesmaids. My Navy son eloped, and I told my fourth son I am just showing up naked! (I had twin boys having their combined weight being 16 pounds 4 ounces, )so believe me when I say they will wish I wore a dress in a slightly wrong hue! Hahahaha!

You know, I have a friend named Carmen that never missed going to mass. She always used to pray that her five children would marry kind, Godly people when they grew up.I used to think that was odd, but now I sooooo get it!

CindyH~  What do you mean you won't be going for the homecoming???  So what if his new wife doesn't want you there, go anyway.  You're his mom and you have every right to be there.  You don't need her permission.  Why does she think she needs to compete with you?  She's seriously trippin'.  lol  He loves you both differently, so I don't see why she doesn't want you there.  Is this his first deployment?  I would think the more the merrier.  They'll get their time together.  Seriously, what is with the girls these days????  I am seriously praying for my son's future wife, out there somewhere.

Seriously CindyH, reconsider coming to the homecoming.  I'm sure your son would want you there.

Linda, I'm so sorry your video stuff didn't get in there.  Sad face.

I've had family tell me it's no big deal... Really?  I don't see YOUR  child serving!!  Yes, it's a choice.  They CHOSE to serve their country with THEIR LIFE.  That says ALOT to me.  Even if they AREN'T my children, I have the utmost respect because of the sacrifices they are making for US.  Don't get me started.  lol
