For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Moving to Great Lakes
Hello Ladies,
My Husband is expected to graduate from boot camp on November 30 and since he's school is in Great Lakes he will go straight to school after PIR. He is going in for Advance Electronic Technician so since he's A school will be almost a year long, me and my daughter are planning to move to Great Lakes around January to be closer to him.
My question is will he actually be able to leave base after class to see us? I know that he won't be able to live off base till he gets an approval so I am expecting to live on me own for the first few months but I would like to know how often he will actually be able to see us. I'm 22 and this will be my first time living on my own and so far away from my family so I am a little scared making this drastic change and I would really be worried if I moved and then barely got to see him. I know that they have to earn their liberty, by January he will already have almost a month in school how much liberty will he have earned by then?

Thanks so much for the info Meagan! If the paper work hasn't been completed by the time I get there will he have weekend liberty but that time or not yet?
Also, do you know any good neighborhoods that are close to the base? I've never been to Chicago so I don't know any of the areas and I want to make sure I'll be in a safe place for my daughter and close enough to be able to see my husband often.
