I will be moving to VA near base and volunteer to make your sons their favorite meals on some Liberty weekends!

Ahhh - my son is a UNT graduate.  So yes, being both from Texas and trumpets, I'm sure they are becoming close.  :)  Makes my heart happy.

We used to live in Texas for 25 years. My son graduated with at Texas State University.. I am sure they are becoming friends!!! Trumpets tend to stick together!!!

Eeyore:  That is nice, I may have to have you "adopt" my son for A School. LOL. Seeing as how I'm all the way down in Texas, I won't be able to visit often.  :(  I'm hoping to maybe get a visit in January/February for his birthday.  Maybe our recruits are already becoming good friends.

It will be nice when he gets to A school. We live a couple of hours from where A school will be, so when he gets liberty we can visit him.

My son mentioned that they will perform for the two PIR's prior to theirs, 10/13 and 10/20. And he mentioned getting to play once a week. Was not happy about that either but at least he gets that! LOL. I am so excited to have contact with other Navy family members, especially MU loved ones! Our SR's will not only be together for boot camp but through A School as well, and possibly longer! :)

I wish I had the same ambition on my instrument as my SR does. But i'm sure proud of him! He practices enough for both of us anyway! (If only it actually worked like that....)

My son feels the same way about his trumpet. I always have told his girlfriends, the trumpet is his first love. I didn't get an hour, but I will take what I got, just hearing his voice was enough for us.

I was pleased to hear about all of the MUs too! Especially those trumpet players :) I didn't hear about a week 4 performance....but i'm sure there is plenty information I didn't get. You can only cover so much ground in an hour! haha but he did tell me that they are able to practice every week and that was good to hear. After a lifetime of having a trumpet on his face every day he wasn't looking forward to not being able to practice.
