Well, my son arrived in Beaufort last Friday and so far, he loves it!  He sounds very happy and of course, that makes me happy.

Thanks. My son's sister has been working to find him a car since he couldn't bring his car in Germany back to the US. She has narrowed it down to a few and he will be looking at them this weekend. I can't wait to see him once we arrive. He is only taking enough leave now to go to his sisters and buy a car. He has two cousins getting married in July and in Oct and he wants to be able to attend both of those especially since he is in the one in Oct.

Hey Purplemom...here we are again!  Boy, I can't imagine how complicated it would be to move from Germany back to the US!  I sure don't envy you on that process.

Nathaniel thinks he has to report at Beaufort on May 6.  I pick him up tomorrow night and we will look around for a car while he's here, but we're not in a hurry about it.  I think he can survive down there without one for a little while until we can find the right one (and the right price).

I wonder if our boys will end up rooming together?

Good luck with the move....I'm sure we will eventually get to meet.

My MA son (like MountainMama's) is finishing up A school tomorrow. He will report Beaufort sometime in the next week or so after he picks up his car. We currently live in Germany and are in the process of moving to our new duty station in June on just the other side of Savannah. Looking forward to getting to know that whole area and are excited that we will be fairly close.

Thanks for the info.  Believe me, I will probably have lots more questions in the weeks to come. My son comes home next Friday for a couple of weeks and then I will be driving him down there. We will probably come down a couple of days early so that we can drive around and check everything out.  I'm really looking forward to it!

My MA son will be arriving there in about a month.  He's looking forward to it and I'm excited to have him reasonably close (about 10 hours).  Can anyone tell me a little about the area?  Specifically, will he need a car or is there a lot of public transportation available?
