Hello-found this group yesterday. My son is going to be an ensign-Navy nurse. He leaves for Newport on March 5 and then will going to Bethesda on April 9th. His father is retired Air Force so I am not completely new to Service Life. I am so excited for my son but I am a little nervous too. We live in Phoenix and he will be going completely across the country. He chose Bethesda because he wants to see another part of the country. But one of the other reasons was he has a helicopter mom (hovering). It is joke between us but so true. We are so close and I am going to miss him terribly. I am going to fly out for graduation in April. So after he leaves-- the next time I will see him will be the night before he graduates at a reception. The thought of him in his uniform that night almost makes me cry. I am going to see him for such a short time that weekend before he leaves for Bethesda. He is 22 but it is so hard to see him leave. I am so proud of him and stand behind his choice to serve in the Navy.
