For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My sailor has left for his first duty station in Bethesda. He should arrive at 11:30PM tonight. Planning on visiting him sometime next year for Spring Break.

My sailor has left Bethesda about amonth ago as well..he is now in Japan. Those of you who can take advantage of DC area incourage you to go visit...you canstay at the Navy lodge on base and take the Metro into DC and see all the sights.

joemama, when my husband and I got here, he checked in and they told him where he would be working. It just depends on where they need people and what training he has (if he had a C School). My hubby works in the ICU on a 12 on/12 off shift much like civilian nurses. His co-workers are people from Navy, Army, and Air Force and of all ranks, even civilians. He's getting great experience and enjoys his work. Your son will enjoy it, whatever he does!

Just learned our son will be a corpsman at Bethesda this summer. He's heard he will need to get an apartment. What can you all tell me? And what do they actually do there?

We stayed at the Navy Lodge on Base too....we also take the metro train to DC and walk around to see all the sites and such...it is cheap and easeir than trying to find parking. Plus Traffic is horrible and going to get worse especially around the base/hospital.

Hello all -- Judi I am sure you did feel every mile ! Hope she is doing well . Thank you Angie and Trisha and CorpMom for touching base-- as a newbie to all of this it is encouraging to hear from those who have gone through and have enjoyed this part of their journey in Bethesda. Mine is in the Neuro dept.
Hopefully I will get to go down and visit within the next several months and see the sites and spend time with my sailor . I will be praying for all of our sailors as they continue on serving and for the families who hold them dear to our hearts.

Hi all...don't say much on here either....Trish my sailor turned 21 last week and has been working with the wounded warriors too!! He will be leaveing Bethesda for Japan in the next few months..Congrats to your sailor and all her accomplishments while at Bethesda...her next jounrey while be hard on a mom will be praying for her saftey as well as the Marines she will be "Doc" for.
