Hi Trisha -- congratulations on your daughters achievments ! My sailor has only been down there for a little over a month . He seems to be adjusting but it has been slow since he knew only one other person there . Is your daughter moving on after two years or is she staying longer ?

CorpMomM ---no worries life is busy ! Your description was very helpful and our sailor is all setteled in ! Nice to have him here on the east coast for the next 2yrs. We made a run to the Target down the road from the base for some things to settle him in and I was impressed with all that is around and how close . I know that once he gets his schedule and gets adjusted to the new base and all he will have plenty to go and explore !  Thanks for your help and insight.

Judi(NavyMom) -- he said his internet/wifi works great .

Hi everyone!

My daughter will be heading to Bethesda in early March. She is so excited!

I appreciated your description of barracks a few posts back. How about internet access? Hopefully, better than SA.

CorpMomM , thanks -- I sent a friend request to send you my e-mail because I am awful with technology know how haha !

Thank you very much for the insight CorpMomM !  He will be sure to take the sheets as well that we bought him in SA -- will have to send a good pillow . The quarters sound small but, I am sure they aren't roomy on a ship . I will message my e-mail to you now ( or I will at least try : / ) .  Also thanks for the tip on the Navy Lodge my husband likes that idea of staying there when we visit. I am so thankful for this site and the kindness shown .

Thank you to those of you who started this group ! I know some of the info may be older but I read through all of it last night since my sailor is headed to Bethesda next week . I have no idea what to expect and of course my 19yr old sailor takes it all in stride and is excited to be going . Info though from him is -- a smile and mom , don't worry I will be fine  : )    I am excited as well for him but like to have some info going in. It sounds like the sailors seem to like it there and do well. One question I have is about the barracks/dorms (?) on base -- what are they like and do we need to send bedding and such ?  Again , thank you to those who have shared --- this moms anxious heart feels a bit better .

Thank you Cheryl B, for responding.  My son is working with women and infants, I believe he said that he works with them after the babies are born, watches only.  He left from GL the last week of June, after completing A school. Boot Camp it was cold, now it is hotttttt in IL.
