Just want to connect with moms whose SR arrived July 17, 2012. Haven't heard from him yet, but I'm sure that is just a matter of time. Expecting form letter next week, then we'll have a better idea.

Awesome Mikey's Mom! I'll use that threat in my letters too! lol Thanks for making me laugh!

Mikey's mom---my son, Alex, left on July 16th. We heard from him when he got to BC, only to say he made it safe. Approximately 4 days later, I came home for lunch and there, on my doorstep, was the box with all his belongings. I cried upon opening it....digging thru the clothes, etc... to find a note or something from him, but nothing was there. Just socks that were inside out, and everything he took with him.....sitting there in front of me.  We haven't received anything since.  I have been writing letters everyday, but we haven't mailed them yet, since we haven't gotten his mailing address. Keep me posted on when you receive calls/letters, etc.. from your son. We can help each other make it thru the next 7 weeks.

Just "keep the faith". I can't even explain to you how wildly busy they kept us in Basic Training (oh, those many years ago). The LAST thing on our minds if we got some time to ourselves was calling home! Be strong for them. They need to know that you are there for them.

Absolutely thanks...not that I wish this on anyone but good to know I am not alone

my son arrived in great lakes july 18th called at 430am best wake up call ever

Hi Mikeys Mom~ my daughter also arrived at boot on the 17th. Where are you from? We are from Portland, Oregon.

Yup! I'm sure they must have because her plane left at 1:10p! When you talk to him you can ask him about the young girl whos friends  all caused a nausiating bawling scene at the airport, haha. I don't think the people who left with her were especially thrilled...oh well. The Navy will grow her up, right? She is only 17...time to put on the big girl panties...

He's been in Portland for the past 3 years. He went in there. We live up near Seattle. We drove down and took him to dinner then he left everything with us that he hadn't moved home already. When we dropped him at the motel (where they were all staying) it really hit me that this was goodbye. I know its a great time of growth and this will be a good thing for him. I just didn't expect to have the pangs and missing him like I have been.

If/when you hear from your daughter, ask her if she flew out with a Michael. He thought he was leaving the 17th about 1PM.

I know they won't necessarily all be in the same group, but it's nice to have some company in my misery!

my son arrived on the 18th!

did you hear from him yet?  i have not.  evan left out of boston.

I got the I am safe call at 10.00pm. No box yet. I am sure it all goes well. Ladies....keep in mind you all raised these boys and.girls to be responsible people. We have to have more faith and and stop feeling sad...be proud!
Hi my son also arrived on the 17th, i did get the call at 3:33a.m. We are from Texas.
