Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Good morning all! It's been two weeks since my SR left. I have his box and his form letter, so I am feeling pretty happy, which is a far cry from how I felt two weeks ago. I am so thankful that I have had all of you to help get through the past few weeks. So thank you, thank you, thank you!
Last week I was feeling pretty mopey and was worrying about the same things all of you are worrying about..Is he sleeping? eating? Is he warn out? Is he cold? All of this while sitting at my comfortable table, sipping coffee...That is when I came up with an idea. I decided to get off my rear and spend this "bootcamp" time doing my own bootcamp.
It has been only a week, but I can honestly say that it has been nice to have something to center some of that "feel sorry for myself" energy on. Which leads me to...........
I HAVE A CHALLENGE FOR YOU...THE BOOTCAMP MOM CHALLENGE.
So if you are interested this is my thought. Find something that is tough for you whether it be something mentally or physically challenging. It doesn't matter what it is...maybe working out, changing eating habits, cleaning the garage, less smoking, drinking more water. Find something that you can throw yourself into for the weeks ahead while you are waiting for PIR. You are welcome to share it, or keep it to yourself.
Here are the Pro's...It keeps your mind occupied, you are challenging yourself, you have something to write about to your SR, you have something you can share with your SR when you see him/her.
Now for the CONS....Ummmm, I can't think of any.
So think about it...How about you come and join me on this journey...
BTW...My challenge is to drink a gallon of water a day, and I have a Cardio, weightlifting plan that is mapped all the way out until I leave for PIR.

Thank God my little one is much better, we are in TX and preparing for our State testing next week, so stress is big right now. For what you write I think you work in the Medical field? I'm a 4th grade Bilingual Teacher. Amy, is it your boy or girl at BC, and what DIV?
Oh Mamabear I can't wait for your stress to ease up! Will the testing and stress ease up at the end of next week? You are right I am in the medical field. I am an ER/Trauma RN. (well up until a few months ago I was. Now I have moved into Informatics nursing). My SR is a boy and he is in Div 927. Let me know how things are going...Keep your head up.
Hey BootCamp Mommas- it is the weekend- change it up, do something crazy, or double up on leg weights or band resistances.
(I cannot suggest adding more water...we might need to start with the depends if we go on that second gallon) LOL

Thanks for this idea. I think I will try it. I have been wanting to work out more, and even get back into quilting. SO here is my challenge for myself. I am going to work out every day (either by using the Wii Fit or walking every day - and I want to start a new quilt - and work a little every day on that as well)
I will keep you all updated.

Awesome Librarylady3! So glad you are joining us. So is the quilt that you want to start have a Navy theme or maybe for that special Navy person in your life?
I thought I'd offer a bit of advice to those who struggle to get enough water in. Add some lemon. Not just a little squeeze of lemon from a single slice but like half a lemon for a full glass of water. It's good for the body and it give the water just that extra boost of flavor. Of course I'm partial to lemons ever since the 4th grade when we used to have sour face lemon eating contests. :-)
Hi All - was away this weekend so couldn't work out at all!!! But I'm back on track this morning with my weights and stretching routine. Will try to get in a four mile walk this afternoon with a friend. We walk up and down hills - it's an amazing workout for the entire body, especially the legs. Gets those thighs in tip top shape while trimming the middle and butt. I, too, add fresh lemon to my water - most refreshing indeed!!! By the way ladies, for those of you with PIRs coming up - did you know you can watch a PIR live every Friday morning? Here's the link: http://navylive.dodlive.mil If your sailor is in the Performance Division (the 900s) you may catch a glimpse of him or her one Friday morning. They practice for their own graduation by participating in ones before theirs. My son was assigned to the honor guard for his graduation and I was able to see him perform two weeks prior to his own graduation. Its a most beautiful ceremony with lots of pomp and circumstance. Check it out! Enjoy your day!!

I have been working out on my Wii Fit at least every other day. I am promising myself to do it every day because I do truly feel better. I also started sewing/quilting a wall hanging of an American Flag.

3 Weeks ladies and we get to hold our babies in our arms once again!!!! How are we doing in this challenge? My hips are hurting, but good pain. I am just hit the 3K milestone and looking forward to the 5K by next week. I've already had co-workers tell me that I look slimmer, YaY!
I know our kids are at the end of Hell Week, so we must push ourselves a little more! Keep it going Mommas! Have a Great Weekend and hope to hear from our kids!!
