Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Good morning all! It's been two weeks since my SR left. I have his box and his form letter, so I am feeling pretty happy, which is a far cry from how I felt two weeks ago. I am so thankful that I have had all of you to help get through the past few weeks. So thank you, thank you, thank you!
Last week I was feeling pretty mopey and was worrying about the same things all of you are worrying about..Is he sleeping? eating? Is he warn out? Is he cold? All of this while sitting at my comfortable table, sipping coffee...That is when I came up with an idea. I decided to get off my rear and spend this "bootcamp" time doing my own bootcamp.
It has been only a week, but I can honestly say that it has been nice to have something to center some of that "feel sorry for myself" energy on. Which leads me to...........
I HAVE A CHALLENGE FOR YOU...THE BOOTCAMP MOM CHALLENGE.
So if you are interested this is my thought. Find something that is tough for you whether it be something mentally or physically challenging. It doesn't matter what it is...maybe working out, changing eating habits, cleaning the garage, less smoking, drinking more water. Find something that you can throw yourself into for the weeks ahead while you are waiting for PIR. You are welcome to share it, or keep it to yourself.
Here are the Pro's...It keeps your mind occupied, you are challenging yourself, you have something to write about to your SR, you have something you can share with your SR when you see him/her.
Now for the CONS....Ummmm, I can't think of any.
So think about it...How about you come and join me on this journey...
BTW...My challenge is to drink a gallon of water a day, and I have a Cardio, weightlifting plan that is mapped all the way out until I leave for PIR.

I am on this plan as well. I start the gym classes next week but I have been taking my vitamins (which is a miracle for me) and also starting on the gallon a day water! It is a good challenge for us all, since our children are being challenged now it's like we are embarking on a journey together.
Hey welcome GinaJohnnysmom! It is so helpful to have something to throw yourself into while your SR is gone. Congrats on the gym classes. Super good job on the vitamins. I really need to do that too. I am really struggling with the water. I finally printed off a water challenge sheet and hung in my office to remind me. Let us know how you are doing.
I do understand how you feel. My SR got there in March as well and when I got his/her box, I broke down and cried. I still cry because it is hard for me to be in the house and pass his/her room without looking in or when I see his/her picture, I get full of mixed emotions. My SR did not pass the physical fitness therefore no graduation. It has been over a week since I last talked with my SR and it gets even harder. I have tried keeping my mind off of my SR by walking, learning how to be more computer savvy (lol), but it just does not seem to work. Any more suggestions?
Oh lonely mom, I am so sorry! Are there any activities that you enjoy doing? I had a hard time passing my sons room too. I finally broke down and went in his room and cleaned, cried, painted and cried a bit more. But now I enjoy going in. It feels less like a shrine and more like a young mans room that is ready for a visit.
We need to find you an outlet. Something that you like doing or would like to learn to do...Any ideas?

Thank you so very much, but what I have found myself doing is walking a lot, where I live it is cold, windy, and the weather is unpredictable. We just had a little snow after Easter, and to day it just got up to the 60's, so when I walk it helps keep me focused because it is too cold to do anything else. LOL, However I did hear y my SR today at 1:23, finally passed that swim, though my SR was to partake in the PIR and has missed that to me this great news was just as good as a PIR.
I WOULD SOOOO LIKE TO DO THIS, BUT I live in the DESERT!!! :(
Ladies we are down to 6n days!!! What are we going to do to this challenge more interesting these last days before PIR???
Welcome Aimee and Wine...I cut out diet soda and increased my walking. I am now down Five pounds since joining this group and 22 pounds since September. Good luck you can do it. We have 4 weeks left and I just joined the gym. I would like to drop 4 more pounds before PIR.
