For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

My son's recruiter told him that he would be able to keep his cell phone at BC and it would be kept in a "searchable locker" and if they (the recruits) were caught using their phones without permission it would not be good. We have not yet received his box so I do not know if he was allowed to keep it or if it will be in the box.

Ginnibean wrote on March 9, 2010 ~ a bit of advice about the cell phones, the Chief told us they were getting to keep them now (the Air Force does this too) to make calls but that they wouldn't get to charge them while at BC so have your SRs charge them while they are at the airport, or at MEPS, any chance they get, but sending a calling card is a good idea.

my grandson said as soon as they got to the point of putting their things in a box-the cell phones went in with everything else they removed the batteries and put them in a shoe and sent them home-they were told if they got caught with a cell phone there would be hell to pay-thats all I know He just graduated 3/11 and that is the first thing he bought-a new cell phone
Maybe different RDC do things differently but he said he saw them taking all the cell phones and putting them the boxes

My son started bootcamp on February 23rd. I received "the box" about a week later with his cellphone tucked into one of his shoes.

No chance of keeping the cell phone. They will be able to use it to make their I'm Here call, then it is turned off, battery taken out, and placed in the box of belongings to come home. There are no lockers at Navy bootcamp for them to keep this type of belonging.

NO, they do not get to keep their cell phones. My son left for GL 1/4, and his graduation was 3/4. They can use their cell phones at GL when they are geiven the 30 seconds for the "I'm here" phone call. After that, it's off and put in your shoe in the bottom of the box, and sent home. After graduation if he/she has Sat departure you can meet them at the airport and give them their cell phones and laptops, that's what we did;. It's so good to be able to talk or text everyday now!
