My daughter left for boot camp January 4th.  I think of her often and pray for her uncessantly.  I just wish I could know how she is doing.  Wehave only gotten the one phone call letting us know she made it to Illinois.  Does anyone else out there have a daughter at Great Lakes doing Basic at this time?  Just didn't want her to be the only girl-ya know?  Thanks for this forum, I have learned a lot and will keep checking...

Pebbleshess, congratulations on becoming a Navy mom and welcome!  When I attended my son's boot camp graduation, I was pleasantly surprised to see how many girls there were.  And over the past four years I've been fortunate to meet many women in the Navy, and they're terrific.  I hope you get some responses from other moms of girls there now.

Don't worry about your daughter, she's busy and doing absolutely fine I'm sure.  Yes you'll be getting some letters during her eight weeks, but don't stress over it or how many you get, and don't compare your experience with others - everyone's different.  Just send her happy positive notes, look forward to PIR (I hope you can go, it's amazing) and enjoy the stories she'll be telling about boot camp.  She's on the way to a great adventure!

Thanks for your encouraging note.  :)

You should also find the NavyfofMoms group for her ship/division; her PIR date; her rate (job); and try these:  Moms of Daughters and PIR reference information.

You can search groups by going to the tab "Groups" and entering your search info.

Pebbleshess, my daughter left for BC on the 4th too.  That 15 second phone call was almost torture.  I wanted to ask her so many questions.  I am dying to hear from her.  If I could just have a 5 minute call a week to know how she was doing, it would make this much easier.   My daugher is on Ship 2, Div 915.  Do you know where yours is yet?

Lisarn - my daughter is in teh same ship/div  Where are you from?  We are from San Jose.  My daugther left on the 3rd

No I don't know how to or where to go to find it.  Do I just wait for the form letter?

Lisa, my daughter is on the same ship also! I wonder how many sailors are in their division? It's so great to know there are other people that have kids on the same ship!

Lee Ann

Hi my daughter left Jan 3rd.  There were 3 other girls that left with her.  I heard there are quite a bit of females in boot camp.  Don't worry she will not be the only girl.  Where are you from?

I don't know how to find the ship or div.  I am working on it.  We are from NC.

Pebbleshess - i went to her recruiting off yesterday and they looked it up for me

I guess I could call the Recruiting office.  I did her Box today.  That really tore me up!

The box was hard but the 15 second scripted phone call is what did me in
