I hope I am doing this right.
I posted this on the FB forum & thought I should post it here.
I received 2 letters, so happy. Found out his bunkmate is Briggs (anyone know him?) &
he is making lots of friends.
He loves the food there & found out he likes sweet potatoes (just not they way I fixed them apparently) I’m just happy he is eating.
I know it is a little late in the game but we are going to try to make it to his graduation.
Any suggestion on a motel that does not cost an arm & a leg that is close by that has a shuttle to the base?
I miss him so much & can't wait to see him.

Traceymac - We are staying at the Navy Lodge.  It was 60.00 a night.  It is pretty close to the base.  You will have to make the reservations under your SR's name even though he doesn't have to be there for you to check in.  Go to their website and then I would call them.  We made our reservations on line but didn't see were to put our SR's name so we wound up calling and talking to someone who corrected our reservation.  Here is the link:

 Hope this helps.

That's sure exciting to have received a letter. Maybe I will get one soon. We book our hotel at the Hawthorne. It was fairly inexpensive and there is a shuttle. however it costs $15 one way. Apparently if u book with hotels.com or something like that u can get a free shuttle voucher. My husband took care of all of those arrangements. The hotel did say that there is a train station close to the base that u could park there for four dollars and walk over. I'm not sure if u r driving or not, we r and im not looking forward to that part:( at least the reward of seeing my son will out weigh the tortuous car ride. im so happy to hear that your son is well. Good luck!
