OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hotels for PIR with shuttle?

Hello ladies :0) I am sure this question has been on here several times I just havent found quite the answer I am looking for. When I go to my husbands PIR I am going to need to take a shuttle from which ever hotel I am going to be staying in. I would rather not pay what I am sure to be outragous prices for a taxi, and I will not be renting a car. So shuttle is my option. With this being said I have a few options as far as hotels go that have shuttles to PIR. Was hoping to get a few opinions on which hotel would be the best option for me and my girls. Thank you for your time in advanced. Here goes the list :0)

Red Carpet Inn

Quality Inn Waukegan

Comfort Inn Waukegan

America's Best Value Inn

Ramada Inn Waukegan

Motel 6 Waukegan

Super 8 Motel

Courtyard by Marriott

I would love to be close to the base so top of the list is prefered :0)

Hi Jessica, We're staying at the Quality Inn, it's three miles from the base. The rates are reasonable 69.00 a night. You might try the Navy Lodge, I think there 1 1/2 miles from the base. I believe they have a shuttle. I hope this helps.

I have booked our family at the Quality Inn for July PIR. Can you tell me how your stay was at this hotel?

Regardless of where you stay.....look at the colum on the right side of the screen and find Sarge's meet and greet and click it. BTW he doesn't own the restraunt, just the cab and has several drivers.

The Navy Lodge does NOT have shuttle service. However they are only about a 3 minute drive from the base. I stayed there for my son's PIR last November over the Thanksgiving weekend. They were great. The $ you save on the room (I paid $65 but didn't have a kitchenette) would pay for taxi fare to and from the base. I did have other N4M friends that stayed at Courtyard by Marriott and loved it. The location is good for restaurants and if you are taking kids it has more amenities for sure (pool and spa). I also agree with Not Da Mama - Sarge is a great guy and totally there for the Navy families. Whatever you decide - enjoy your trip - PIR is one of the best moments ever! Congratulations.

My daughter's PIR was 5/18/12 and we also stayed at the Ramada Inn Waukegan. I agree with harpist mom. I do not recommend this hotel. The room was musty and the walls are paper thin. We had a 1st floor room and all we heard until about midnight each night was the person in the room above us walking around. Sounded like he/she was getting ready to fall through the ceiling! This is the worst Ramada Inn I have ever stayed in. The staff was friendly enough but the area for the continental breakfast was very small and crowded. Overall, not a great place to stay.

I just made reservations at the Ramada. I am hoping it isn't too bad. We usually stay at Marriots but they were booked for our weekend. I am crossing my fingers...

I am glad that at least the staff was friendly to you at the Ramada Inn in Waukegan. They were really crabby the weekend I was there.
