While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I have ?'s about pay. Hopin' someone can relate!!
My husband left on the 24th of May for boot camp. (So proud.) As a stay at home wife and mom, we are depending on his pay. I was told that I would not get his paycheck on the 1st and that I would receive it on the 15th but now someone has told me that I may not get that either. I'm panicking a little and need to know as soon as possible so that if I have to get assistance, I can get it.
Sorry if this is a huge repeat. I'm just a little flustered.

My daughter got to boot camp on May 10. She just got her firstpaycheck today, June 1. (I'm taking care of her bank account and bills, so I saw the deposit.)

My grandson was in 3 or 4 weeks before his check was deposited in his account. After that they went in like clock work.

My husband left the 4th and got paid today. I understand your concern, I have two kids at home too. I would say that getting paid on the 15th is very possible, but not guaranteed... no help I know. I don't think it's impossible for you to get it though... one lady below it took 20 days for her daughter to get a deposit, so you'll have twenty days in before the 15...but once again, not guaranteed. Oh, and just so you know.... the deposit was AMAZING!! wish I could see the break down of what all it was for... I'm assuming alot of it was housing.

that's a little more relieving to hear! What do you mean I may not get it? I was told that when they go to boot camp they file a direct deposit form for where they want it to go. It should hopefully go straight to my account... Is what I thought.
I know I cna't wait. The BH is 2x my rent! So nice to have cushion for once. Can't wait to be able to have money to save instead of paycheck to paycheck.

I just mean, it might not be in by the fifteenth, maybe you'll end up not seeing a deposit till the 1st of July. You SHOULD have it by the 15th, but it's the military, nothing is set in stone.

I had read somewhere that if the paperwork necessary for direct deposit was filed before the 7th of the month, that pay would be received on the 15th. If it was in by the 23rd, it will be on the 1st. I agree with Esther that that first check was amazing, even though I know it was mainly BAH and the fact that it was for practically an entire month minus five days and clothing.
As long as he was able to set up the DD with an account that you already have access to, you'll have no problem getting it. My hubby's recruiter told of one recruit who had the wrong DD form and had to open a Navy Fed account so his wife wasn't on it and she was then unable to have access to it. I would assume that the check you receive on the 15th will be for the last week of May and the first half of June, but I would brace yourself to prepare for the worst in case it is only for that last week of May. That is what I was expecting, so I was pleasantly surprised when it was more. Didn't have to dip into savings as much as we had planned. Now, if we could figure out why we're still receiving a paycheck from his previous employer...I know their going to want their money back eventually.

Thank You Thank You Thank You!! That is what I LOVE to hear. YES! He did set it up to go straight into our bank account right here at home!! I am bracing myself for the worst. I called all of our bills and I was shocked. They were SO SO SO polite to me. I cannot believe how laid back they were. "Pay us when you can!"
Only 9 days left until I find out! I'm not worried about how much it is, it's just I have nothing... My parents were wonderful enough to stock my house full of groceries but the van is gettin' low on gas and my daughter just went through a HUGE growth spurt!!
I went to get "temporary emergency financial assistance" and the counselor told me I most likely would not qualify becuase I had no proof that I did not have income!! HA!!! How the heck do I prove that I don't have any income!! I'm a stay at home mom!!! How crazy!!

My son went to BC on July 17 and is now Aug 18 and I have not seen any paychecks/direct deposit to his account. I called the number on his first letter to ask and they told me it takes over month is get it going. Not sure what else to do.

Pay days are the 1st and the 15th, but if they have direct deposit with Navy Federal Credit Union, it is the day before. It takes about a month before that first deposit goes in, so the first pay day that is a month after he left will be September 1 (August 31 if he has NFCU). He will receive pay from the day he swore in at MEPS on his way to the RTC and the first 3 deposits are not always what his "normal" pay will be because of the things that get put in and taken out at BC.
