My son left today from Ft Meade and will be arriving at Great Lakes in just a few minutes to begin his first night at boot camp.

I did great throughout the entire time from his swearing in, pictures and lunch...however when the bus arrived and they began to file out one by one and I saw my son's face, I teared up as I ran to him for one last hug and whispered to him how much I love him.  My husband took the picture of it and it's a photo I will treasure for the rest of my life.

No word yet about anything and my heart is so heavy for him tonight and I know what he will be going through on minimal amounts of sleep.

Anyway one have a son who shipped out today???

My son arrived at boot camp this evening also.  I got the "call" so I know the process has started.

Our son left yesterday, and we got our call about 7 Great Lakes time.  I'm so glad we went to the swearing in and stuck around till they left.  When he called us from the airport to tell us his flight had been moved up he was hanging with the guys and sounded great.  When we got our call last night, he sounded good, not stressed, he actually sounded happy if that makes any sense at all.

My heart is heavy but I know God is watching over him and is covering him with protection.  Hang in there!

Evening Dew - Kathy is right.  You will find a lot of comfort and support in the "Boot Camp Mom's" group!  Also, join his PIR group when you find out when it is!  You may want to start it yourself.  All divisions that will graduate on the same day will be included in this group.  Kathy's son and my son will be graduating together in a couple weeks.  I know I couldn't have gone through this as easily without the love and support of my "sisters!"  You will undoubtedly feel the same!  Eventually you will get to know each other, share news from letters (that first real letter is a Godsend!) and encourage each other!  Good luck to you, and all of you with children who recently left.  It does get easier, especially with the support of N4M's!!
