My daughter wrote me that she is part of this and is a flag holder, and hopes to still be that by end of RTC . I am just trying to find out what this means and Google and my hubby (6 years in the Navy) doesn't know what it means. Since I might not get to see her at PIR I am hoping she will still be in "Mass Division Drill" because then she will be part of that at PIR and I might have a chance of picking her out on live stream. Her rate has nothing to do with drill team so I don't know what this all means. She will be either holding the Navy or the Marine flag out in front.

LadyBluefire - I am not sure of the "Mass Division Drill" but my son was what they called a "Stick". I was not on this site and could not find anything online, but it turned out he was a flag holder. At the last minute, since they had not earned all of the flags, he was changed to just a section leader and so did not hold a flag, but was at the head of the division still with the flag holders. - One of those "needs of the Navy" but he was still in the front where I could pick him out.
To the best of my knowledge, the 900's division are the ones that hold the flags for the states, so I don't think that is what she is talking about. I would say it is something to do with her individual division and definitely a question for her when you get a phone call.
My son was in a 900 division. It means they perform at graduations. Usually the 2 prior to their own. Your daughter was selected during processing days. She will practice on top of her regular boot training. It has nothing to do with her rate but you will be able to see her on the live streams prior to her own graduation. Also in 900 divisions is honor guard, band, choir, staff, body snatchers, etc... pretty cool gig.
Danman, Her daughter is not in a 900 division, she is in a regular division.
Since your daughter is in a regular division, she will be carrying one of the flags at PIR that was either earned by the division during training, the division number flag, or the division flag designed by the division itself .
I don't know what a "Mass Division Drill" is, but you should still be able to pick her out during PIR as her division marches in.
Yes, Chipmunk she is also a "stick". Stick 2 to be more precise. So it sounds like she may be up front even if she does not remain a stick holder.
Danman - my daughter is not in a 900 division.
ellen - She may be off on the term mass division drill - she is still getting the hang of some things.
