For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My second son just left at the spur of the moment yesterday. 8/30/12
Hello, My second son Ben, just left yesterday for bootcamp. His recruiter called and gave us three hours to have him ready to leave. His original DOD was scheduled for November. I am still in shock. My oldest son just graduated bootcamp in April of this year. It's so hard because ben had to leave so soon and didn't have enough time to do anything like quit his job, open a bank acct., study the Navy Creed, etc... I'm praying that he is okay. He sounded scared to death when he called last night to say he made it there okay. This hurts so much when they leave. Praying for all of. :)

We're headed to BC graduation in 2 weeks and so I haven't been responding much to the posts on groups outside of our PIR group, but your post went straight to my heart and had the tears flowing! I will be lifting you and your sons in prayer, especially Ben!

Thank you all so much, It helps to talk with people that understand how this feels. Alcbcc he was in the DEP program. Apparently, someone dropped out that was supposed to ship and my son was put in his spot. The recruiter mentioned a couple of weeks ago that sometimes they have slots to fill if others drop out but we had no idea it would be a few hours notice. I would definitely ask your recruiters if this could happen. I feel like our recruiter was being pressured by his chief. It's horrible, it really is. Especially after seeing my son get on the plane as pale as a ghost and in pure shock as to what had just happened. This is going to take me a few days to get over. I am very proud of my precious boys being in the Navy and I do trust the process but I would have loved to have had the time with my dear son. Thank you all again.

My heart goes out to you and your son. Reading this put tears in my eyes. You and your son will be in my prayers. I could only imagine the shock to him and you and how you're both feeling.
But on a positive note, one thing to look forward to is he'll be graduating at the end of October or early November and starting his Navy career a bit sooner. I hope this helps a little.
Hang in there! We are here for you to share feelings and get through boot camp. My son graduated in March, but I still feel like I have to stay on here to share/help others.

Thank you so much for your prayers, Paula and Jackie also. Yes Jackie, that does help a lot. I keep telling myself I'll be able to see him for the holidays now so, that's a big blessing out of this nightmare. I'm just so worried about his feelings and the thoughts running through his head. I can't get the look of fear in his eyes out of my head. I have so much to tell him to make him feel better and I won't have the chance for weeks and he'll already be past this. I'm praying that this will be behind us soon. I remember another mother of a son in boot camp said she "only counts the Fridays" so I'm going to try that. God Bless you all! Thank You, from the botom of my heart!

Start writing it all down, put everything you want to tell him now in letters to him. Even thought he won't get the first one for a couple of weeks, at least you "get it off your chest" so to speak. My son said that the letters helped so much to get him through boot camp. He'll see that you've been thinking of him and praying for his well being the whole time and being encouraging. I told my son in every letter that I pray everyday for God to keep him safe and healthy. So true that by the time he writes to you, all those feelings will have totally changed. It's quite an emotional journey, but one that has a great ending.
Also, number the corner of the envelope. That way, he knows which order to read them.

Hi, Jim&Bens mom, my heart went out to you when I read your post. I am telling you that is one on the reasons I dislike the military. You just never know when that shoe is going to drop. I understand it but I don't like it. My prayers are with all of you. It is a trying time but you will get thru it. One day at a time just try and stay busy. Good luck.

Holy CRAP girl!!!!! my son PIR'd last March. He DEP'd for EVER ... but in the middle of DEP he did get that call that said " do you want to go this weekend?" he said " OH YEA" that gave me 3 days ... but it didn't happen scared the crap out of me.. I CAN' NOT IMAGINE what you just went thru... Your roller coaster is starting all over again with out warning.... but you know the routine now.... HOPEFULLY it wont be as bad.... BRAVO ZULU to your boys and your family!!! Just think... in a couple months....... BACK TO CHICAGO!!!! I'm still trying to convince my younger son to do the same thing. hugs to you !!
