For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Your son is in good hands.He doen't need a cell phone where he is,because he needs to focus. Plus it will give his ear a rest.Your son is probably like my son 24/7 with his cell phone especially texting.Now they'll find out they CAN live without it. He can get the cell phone back once he enters A school.

I felt that way at first before he left but my husband put it in a great way that has helped me alot. He said try to look at positively that his life is beginning a new chapter. Its exciting for him and he will quickly become a strong resilient man capable of supporting himself and his family. Be excited and proud and know he is doing what he desires and was meant to do. I think my husband view point is right on and I repeat those words in my head. I also think what he would be doing if he hadn't gone and with the California economy he would have still been unhappy. He was excited for the day to come when he would leave and start this adventure. He is doing Gods plan. It get hard and I try to move on quickly if I feel sadness. This is better than any college education he could've done. Your Son will come out a man but always be your baby to love on. It will get better. Prayers to you!

Hi Darcie, my name is Kirsten and my son left on 9/12, so our sons are probably together. I know how you feel, I cry all the time. I know he has a tough exterior but he is sensitive on the inside. I just received his box today. It has been a very emotional day today. I did not receive a call from my son yet either. I was told I would receive a call when he arrived but I did not. No news is good news! That is what is keeping me going. I got my sons address this week. You will have to let me know what ship he is in. We can give each other support throughout and hopefully we will see you at PIR.

Hi, Darcie! My son left on 9/11 for boot camp also! I had been totally prepared for just about everything because of this site. THANK YOU MOMS!!! We got his scripted call at 10:47 that night, but had been able to stay in contact with him that afternoon because he took his cell phone (which we just got in his box last night). We haven't received the form letter yet, and no other word from anyone. In his box was the NAVY drawstring bag that he took to MEPS and in the bottom were all of the STAMPS and PHONE CARD numbers that he was supposed to have transferred to his wallet!!! I was SO upset! I can't be mad at him because I miss him too much :( Be strong and stay on the site! I log on with a full box of tissues :)

My son also left on 9/11 and we received his box yesterday. Actually got home from work, saw the Fed Ex sticker and jumped back in the car and flew to the Fed Ex office to retrieve it. Got there with 5 minutes to spare. Super happiness and then super sadness....no letter inside. I did get a lift by just seeing his handwriting on the box. I hope that the official letter arrives soon!

I saw the FedEx truck rolling up so I JUMPED out the door, ran up to the the poor FedEx guy and said, ITS THE BOX!!! He says, yep it is. I told him you don't understand, my son when into the Navy last week and we all wait for "the box"!! said excitedly. He says, ok? LOL......He shakes it and says theres something rattling in the box. I am giddy and excited and told him Yes, it sounds like his phone, may I hold the box now??? He hands it to me and it's like being a kid in the candy store. I open the box and all I find is shoes, cell phone and his i.d's. Wondering where all his clothes were, I start asking around at work.....they donate them to homeless!!! I LOVE IT and know that's exactly what he did!!
On another note, it is SO NICE to hear others on the same roller coaster ride as I am. I have no one to support my crazy emotions since he's left. It's just me and my younger son. But we are continually proud of him!!!

My son left on 9/16 and we got his box yesterday, 9/19. The handwriting alone, with the long squiggly line under it was enough to make me smile and laugh and cry all at the same time. Wow this is tough!

I smelled his clothes last night while his little brother 3yr looked in the box and his favorite dog wouldn't stop rubbing herself on his clothes. It was a comforting smell it brought me some peace. Now the wait for the form letter. I think about him all day everyday. Baby steps and one day at a time. I'm so excited for him and very proud. Yet I just can't get over that feeling. I know I will. Thank you for all your support and the information. It helps tremdously to know we all have our feelings we all have our ups and downs and that its ok. I was recently told to buck up. Funny cause I really have no choice his little brother is a handful with multiple food allergies so trust me when I say I buck it up everyday. I've learned slowly that only moms dads sisters brothers wives husbands...........of military are truly the ones that get it. Expecting my extended family to understand was a mistake. Not their fault and I get that. So we will brave another day knowing in our hearts he is braving more! Love and hugs to all of you!!!!

I am happy for you,I know how good it feels to have recieved that box.I was in my Glory,especially when I saw his hand writting. The first thing that popped in my head was WOW he can spell !!! Just because it's all about texting these days.

And I just did a happy dance realizing that today is 1 week down! Yeah us...we survived a week! Oh I also forgot to include that my son put in his stinky, smelly, old shoes...that should have gone to Good Will! They added 6 lbs to the box I swear! It made me smile. Just so like him to send them back without even thinking about it. Love him so.

Hi CFNavymom -- my son did the same thing -- sent back his old smelly shoes!!! Before he left, I tried to convince him to donate them and not mail them, but....I have to admit, I laughed when I saw them, and of course, put them by the door! When I saw them the shoes by the door later on, it felt like he was just upstairs in his room. I really, really miss him!!!
