OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi, you still need to make changes 2 and 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) to remove your last name from the URL above and make the page more private. Click on the link and the Page will open in a new window. Read the page and then follow the directions at the bottom to make the changes in numbers 2 and 3.

I received my son's box yesterday!!!!  No letter!!!!  I was a little conflicted about the box.  I was thrilled to have it and then must admit I shed a tear or two when there was no letter.  Funny seeing his handwriting on the box warmed my heart.  I hope that the letter will get here very soon.

Sorry to mislead you.  I do not have his address yet either.  One of the gals on here posted that I should write letters every day since he left and send them the second I receive his address.  As of yesterday, no box and no letter.

No I haven't!  I have been told it can arrive as soon as a week and sometimes two weeks!  It just makes me a wreck waiting.  I have been writing to him since he left and that helps a little.  He left from Cleveland, where did your son leave from?

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR when the time comes. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will tell you what to expect, Phone Cards and Phone Calls will give you info about calls, and Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit gives you info on writing. Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in September, to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
