Hi, my Daughter left on the 29th of September. We were lucky because we live amoutvan hour from MEPS in Seattle. We also stayed in the same Hotel they did and on the same floor. The dayvshe left we got to watch them swear in for the last time. We had to leave after that. There flight was delayed for 4 hours. They finally got to Chicago around 11:30 pm their time. We got her call at 11:30! All she said was She made it. Her box would be coming and that She would talk to us in about 3 weeks. Still don't have her address yet. Her Recruiter called my husband and told us her Address but, I was advised to wait for her letter. I was so excited that I wrote anyway. This is definitely been the toughest 2 weeks. No news is good news though. They will do their run in the 5th day and when she passes that she will just keep moving on. This sight is a lifesaver. I am kind of leary of what her Recruiter told her as well as myself. Hope this helped a bit. We are all in this together.
Oops! She left at the end of August!
Hi, Jana, just joined this group, i thought I lost you, haven't seen your messages. I received my form letter today, yours should be coming. What a big relief, really, such a nice feeling. My son is in Ship 2 Div 951. Hang in there.....like me. We have to be strong for our recruits!!!
Yep! They need us to be strong.
Hi Jana, hang in there! It will work out. You’ll look back one day and won’t believe how fast time flies. My daughter’s PIR was in July and now she lives & works in Virginia Beach. Keep you head !!
Thank you! My Daughter will be going to South Carolina after her PIR. Oct 2nd will be the hardest day! She turns 19! First Birthday ever not Celebrating with her.
Hi mrs76peeps! Deep breaths!! I know it is hard and at times completely overwhelming! You are among friends and family here! We haven't lost a mom to boot camp... we won't start with you!
For all of you who have new recruits at BC they have made a series of videos that they posted on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand/ that shows what they go through in BC from before arrival to graduation day. You may want to take a look at those to get a feel for what is happening.
We will be happy to answer any and all questions even if you think they are silly or dumb or whatever.
When my son shipped over 5 years ago I spent 3 weeks in complete tears and was a TOTAL mess. Now that I have my sea legs I am better able to roll with the ebb and flow of Navy life! This will be you someday too!
CupcakeHoarder, I left info on your My Page to help you get started.
