I never received an actual call I thought I'd get. I received a call, from his cellphone that he arrived, he was fine, loved me and he would see me soon is this normal?

That call from his cell was "the Call".  It is short and usually sounds stilted.  Totally normal!!! They are not given a chance to call again until they earn it.  Most of the time you start getting calls after about 4 weeks but it is not unusual for it to be 6 weeks.  Some SR's don't ever get a call or they call someone else.  They may have duty or some other training that prevents them from calling during their groups assigned time.  They are not given time to make up that phone call.  Phone calls can come any time and any day except Sunday morning (Remember time zone differences!!) so keep your phone handy and the ringer on LOUD so you don't miss a call!!! (I missed 2!!!!)

I received his belongings last Saturday, still waiting for his packet

Erin-- I know it's hard and you are missing him!! The letter will come!! I cried every day for 3 weeks.  It will get better!!  Remember you raised a young man who is so brave, selfless and strong that he has chosen to defend his country!!! IF he is that strong it is from your example and Strength that he learned it!!

OMG! That's the exact call I got, and before I could even think about replying, there was the dial tone. Just receive his stuff last week as well... Nothing else since... I don't know what to feel, emotionally everywhere.
I know! I knew a call was coming and had this Guinness Book speed talking thing to say under what he was, if that makes sense" ie.. "mom loves you, you will be ok and I love you more than anything" but I froze. I didn't get one word in edgewise. I thought it was just a hey mom call before he arrived but it was that call. Uugghh!
I wish I can give advice but I'm right where you are. Who knows, we may be in the same PIC group (?) Lol. I'm still crying. I'm still quite emotional. He left his room a mess so I'm doing laundry, cleaning up. The amount of water bottle tops I found was obscene. But instead of getting on him to clean up, I cried. Then I laughed. I laughed when I went to use my razor and it was where I put it lol. Don't get me started about going into his part time job, our area grocery store! Can't go in! Just can't. Everyone says it'll get better and they're in a great place in their life, we need to believe it fully, that is my problem XOXO

I am right there with you. I still have not gone in his room to really clean it up! I had to open the door though, because our dogs were sitting at his door whining. One of my labs moped around the entire first week, part because he was gone and I'm sure partly because I was a wreck. Still waiting on my letter. Honestly I am so happy to not have heard anything at this point, because that means he is still working his butt off. Based on when he arrived, some are getting letters so it's looking like his PIR is 6/22. So we may not ever meet, but I just wanted to reach out.

Have a great day and prayers to you and your family,

Navy41 - I want to welcome you to N4M and BC Moms group.

If you will go to the BC Moms group home page and look to the right there are several pages of information, including information above the discussion posts. The moderators on this site do their best to keep that information as current and up to date as possible.

Below the discussion there is a comment section there as well to ask questions and share your ups and downs with others whose loved ones are in BC.

I don't know what format you are logged in whether on a smart phone or a computer and so sometimes the ability to locate all the available information is sometimes hard to find and also a little overwhelming as well.

I have to leave and some others that are normally on here most of the time are also busy today, but keep checking back in, and hang in there. My son was at BC last year before the new fitness requirements, but I believe they have a few days when they arrive now that they have to do their initial fitness testing to make sure they are meeting the standard. Once they pass that, then they will send out a form letter telling you information about PIR, their mailing address an what division they are in. Once you know what division they are in, you will also want to join that PIR group on here as well.

In the meantime, their clothes, phone and other personal items will be shipped home to you usually by FedEx.

Hello Navy41, my son is getting ready to graduate A school. I have been where you are now, but is very blurry. Send any and all questions attention to AntiM, she is amazing and can answer any question you may have. She, along with the rest of us moms, is very supportive, but she knows so much more about the ins and out, she was in the service, and her hubby still is. Welcome to our little family.

Navy41-- Read this site: http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433 It will help explain what your SR is going through.  Come here and ask any and all questions.  We are happy to help.  BC feels hard but really it is the only time you know exactly where they are and what they are doing during their time in the Navy!! There are groups related to their job (Rate) as well as your PIR group once you get the form letter for you to join as well.  You got this!!

When did he arrive? My son arrived early morning hours of April 25 (1 AM)
