For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Phone Cards and Calling Cards
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to find my SR a calling card so I can send it to him at BC. I already looked on the phone cards and calling cards link in this group but I still don't understand how they work. Should I buy one so my recruit can call me sooner, or should I just wait for him to buy one at the NEX?
Any particular brands that are better than others? New to this kind of stuff so any help is appreciated!

He has been gone for 9 days. I haven't even received the form letter yet. But maybe I will just wait for a call then. I'm sure he'll figure out how they work. I haven't gotten a call yet either. But I am hoping for one soon.

We got a phone card from Walgreens. It was $50 for 1200 minutes. It was not related to any phone plans or anything. We activated it before he left and had him try a call to make sure he knew how to use it. You just dial the number on the card, enter the pin number on the card, then call your number. It was pretty fast and easy to use.

We sent a phone card but she never really needed because of the gift one. Wait until the first phone call, which I think was about 10 days after arrival, and ask him if he needs it.

I bought my SR a phone card at Walgreens. It is a PennyTalk card. Cost $10 for 951 minutes. We have been fortunate to get phone calls. He even earned an extra one for something. Anyway, when they call they often get about a total of an hour (at least mine did). He used up the first one and bought one at the NEX. He didn't like that one as well as the one we got him and he said that one cost him $20 for about half the time. I ended up sending him more and even put an extra one in an envelope for him to share with another recruit.
