Well ladies its happening again. My son graduated today and I only get 9 short hours with him. I am having a very difficult time today because I am letting him spend most of his time with his girlfriend and now I regret it. He's mine..... I shouldn't have to share him.

Good mornng Anxious Mom,

You did the right thing by encouraging your son to spend most of the time with his girlfriend,if that is what he wanted to do. Right now it's all about him.Being a parent and having to share your son is part of the roll. You will be doing a lot more sharing of your son now that he has joined the Navy.If he's happy, then be happy for him,you will always be his mom and will have plenty of time to share with him.He can also call you more often and facetime you,now that he Graduated. Congratulation's to you and your wonderful son.

NORBELY..... thank you so much for those encouraging words. Everything you said is so true. I had no idea what facetime was..... I thought it was a typo.....lol. All of the younger people that I worked with informed me that it is like a newer version of Skype. I will have to see if my son will do one or the other with me :) Then have someone help me create an account. Yes I am stuck in the 80's....LOL. I have an Android phone and no wi fi at home. Is Skype or Facetime an option for me? God Bless You!!

Hello, I'm stuck in the 70's myself..I have never used skype or facetime,so if I sounded hip ...well thats Great ! My son is still in bootcamp and will graduate this friday the 18th. I will learn how to use all of the above in order to stay in touch with him as often as possible.Facetime and skype are options on certain phones I think not all.Ask your son and I'll ask mine.If I find out any info I'll share it with you and all other mom's like us.Lost in time.

FaceTime is for iphones.. It gives you the option of voice call or video call when you're calling another iPhone. Skype is for any smartphone really.. You just have to download the app. If you have an iPhone you can have both. I have an iPhone and FaceTime my brother since he also has an iPhone.. My brother in law, however, has an android so we talk via Skype. If you have skype you can log on from your phone, laptop, or desktop.
Proud AF/Navy Sis 02/903....thank you for educating an un-cool mom.....lol :)
