Not too sure how to use this site, greatful it is here though. My son just left for basic training and I don't know how to fill the void of overwhelming lonliness I am feeling. He left August 13th.

There won't be a discount for packages sent to "A" School in Groton, but you will get a discount once he is in the fleet if you mail to an FPO address.

Thank You HuffyMom23 :) Honestly it has been the longest 8 wks of my life but when I talk about going to see his PIR my co workers say "That went by quick" so maybe it really did!! I got my I AM A SAILOR call yesterday. He was just exhausted after Battle Station. Your time is right around the corner :)

So excited for you that you get to see your son in a couple of days!  I bet you will get the biggest hug from him.  I hope you enjoy your time together.  I just keep hoping these weeks will fly along.  My son graduates on 11-8. I know this week is "Hell Week" for them, so hopefully it isn't too brutal. lol

Hi!  I did get a good night sleep.  My son called tonight and we weren't expecting it.  He was so much better tonight and didn't get choked up at all.  Everyone is right on how each call gets better.  He was able to talk to us for 37 minutes. His Division 952 had their picture posted on the timeline photos so we were able to see him.  Now I can feel a sense of relief knowing that he is better emotionally.

Since your SR has a contract for Machinist's Mate (Submarines) (MM SS), you will also want to check out the group, Machinest Mates, and Naval Submarine Base New London Facebook Page. The Rating Information Card for MM SS can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/mmss.pdf.

Thanks for the Friend request; I hope we can be around for some time to support each other. If there is ever anything I can help you with, don't hesitate to ask. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

I see you have joined Sub Moms; you will also want to join GROTON, CT. SUBSCHOOL & "A" SCHOOL MOMS and check out the Naval Submarine Base New London Facebook Page. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There may be other groups and/or info I can give you. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

lenrose, you made a comment on your own page, so no one will see it unless they come to visit you (like I am doing). Of course, you should check your page at least once a day because as you meet more people, you'll find comments on your wall.  Good luck.
