Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Spoke to my son last night and they are already moving into a different building tomorrow. Glad I did not already send him a package. He did not know the address yet but I had heard they move around at first so I was not surprised when he said he was changing barracks. He thinks all the OS are going to a nicer building. We shall see. :)

LOL Ellen, I know what you mean!!! I do that during daylight hours! :) Just wanted to make sure I wasn't losing it!

My SR classes up at A school on Monday. He has been there since last Sat. night, so that's really not too bad and now that the government is back to work, maybe we won't have too many other issues with our recruits getting to A school, etc.... :)

Still praying for your SR Feliciackm. Please let us know when she gets thru it and is off to A school.

Oops! I fixed it boocoo. I guess that's what happens when I do something at 3am. :)

Well, I'm not Alumni but, 379 was my SR's original DIV and this was the original PIR date for her... am I allowed to stay too?! lol Last letter I got from her said she had 1 more day till she could retake her test. Not sure why we haven't gotten any calls yet... here's to hoping for something today!

Oh yes Edie I talk and text my sailor all the time. I have to try to control myself from bugging him. He is in class during the day for about 10 hours so i do not call him then. He is not suppose to have his phone in class. Eventually he will also start having watch and be busy doing other things but for now, he has a regular routine. He still does not know when his real classes begin. Right now he is just doing a week of introduction, learning the new rules and getting some guidance on how to behave in the real world as a sailor and how to be careful with making business deals.

Why does it say Alumni of PIR 10/11/2013 TG 48 at the top of this page, but then it says "This Group is for those who have SAILORS that graduated 10/04/2013."

Fitness, stay with us and keep us posted on how your Sailor is doing!!!! :)

Comment by Edie on October 16, 2013 at 10:11pm
Sorry eastcoastmom,
I've been running around the house cleaning and making sure we had everything
For our trip tomorrow. And watching internet for I'm sailor call! It came in @ 5:15
He was tired and upset a little cuz he only got a five minute call. Told him it's o.k.
We have all weekend together.
So do you get to talk to your sailor more since he has been in a school?

Edie- I hope you get the same decent weather in GL that we did or better. Graduation day was sunny and warm but Saturday it drizzled a little. Enjoy your sailor.

Fitness123, no need to leave us. You can add as many groups as you want . I added my son's A school weeks before he even graduated. :)

It has been great getting to know you fine folks.

fitmess. You don't have to leave this group! Come back here and let everyone know how your sailor is doing. Some of you may have sailors that will end up in the fleet together.
