My husband Joshua is in the same division, ship, and grad date.

I see you are from California.  We are from TX.  Please let me know what you learn about A scool after PIR.  My son will go to Nuke school, and I read somewhere on the net that he will leave right after PIR for S Carolina, so I am trying to figure out how/when to get some of his personal belongings to him.  Stay strong.  Your daughter should be very proud of Daddy!

Nice to meet you, name is Jamie. I will let you know if I find out anything about A school. My husband is going to Florida next but I don't have any idea how quickly he leaves. Thank you, I think my daughter is proud of her Dad in her own way. We've tried to prepare her by explaining as much as possible on her level. Congratulations on having a very intelligent and strong son. Going to Nuke school is a great accomplishment.

I don't know if you booked your flights yet (or if you plan to get to PIR)  but I was told some sailors might have the whole afternoon off, if they do not have to ship out for a few days, and some ship out that afternoon- depending on what school they are going to next, so don't fly home too soon and miss the opportunity to see your loved one.  I also found out, if they ship out that day (which I think my son does)- you can get a gate pass at the airport and sit with them there until they leave.  Because of that, we will fly home the next morning.

I believe in prayer!  I have both you and ProudMama, and your loved ones in prayer.

My son's PIR is also 7/29/11.
it looks like there might be 8 or 9 divisions graduating that same day.  I wonder how many people are in each division?
My son said that half of his division are female and another mother wrote that there are 44 females in that division so there must be about 88 in ship 02 div 937.
Lucky you!  you got to talk with him!  the 937... is he in a performing unit?  I read the highter numbers may indicate that.  If so, is he stationed there, or is he going through boot camp?  Just curious.  Thanks for the info about divisions
No, I haven't talked to him, he called and left a message the evening he arrived, May 24th, and said that he would be able to call in 3 weeks, which is this week!!  He wrote in his first letter that 1/2 of his div is female.  Yes, he is in the performing unit and wrote us in his second letter that he will be carrying the Alabama flag.  He is in boot camp and his PIR is 7/29/11.
My son left June 5th, so yours is a little further along.  I have not received a letter yet, but did get the initial call when he first arrived.  What an honor for your son to be in the performing group.  I did find a week by week schedule- 1, processing, 2 team building, 3- fire, 4-weapons, 5-I forget, 6-tear gas, 7 team building again, 8- review and testing.  Taylor will also PIR 7/29 if all goes well.
My son's division was held up in Processing Days so even though he got there before your son, his PIR is 7/29/11.  Your son had to score very well in his testing to get into the Nuke program!  My son wanted to be in the Nuke program, but he is 27 and th cut off to start that program is 25.  Is your son just out of high school?

sorry I am just reading this reply.  Yes, my son is 19, and just out of HS.  He was signed up for college, and decided to this instead at the last moment.  He signed up last Aug, but just left... He is good in math, so I am hoping this career suites him well.  I assumed all the kids were young, but have come to find out there are all ages and stages of life... even a few husbands/dads

I can hear the maturity from this experience already in his writing, so I am a "proud mama" too! :)
