Hello.....

My son graduates on 6/3/11.  I rec'd " the kid in the box" yesterday and the form letter today with PIR info.  Does anyone else have a son/daughter graduating on 6/3/11?

My son will be attending the HM A school.  Does anyone know if the HM school is still in GL?

I'm so proud to be a Navy mom!!

My son is also ship 11 div 185. He is also graduating on 6/3. However my son will be attending AN A school. Sorry I'm not sure where HM A school is. I know my sons A school is in Pensacola FL. I just received my form letter yesterday. I had been anxiously waiting and was very excited when I received the letter. I had already written him a letter and was just waiting to send it. I am looking forward to attending graduation and shedding some (A LOT of) tears.

Thank you so much for your reply.  I'm looking so forward to graduation.  What is AN A school?  Have you decided where you are staying yet?  I just booked a room at Ramada.  I would like to find out more about the pictures that the recruits can order.  If you find out any info. let me know.  Don't you feel better now that you rec'd the form letter and the "kid in the box"?  At least now I know he's in boot camp and hopefully the time will go by fast.  I usually don't like to wish time away but I can't wait to see him.

My son is an airman recruit. In the beginning he was also going to be HM but he really wanted to do something different. This job opened and he ended up signing a new contract. I don't know that we are going to get a room yet. We only live about 1 and a half hours from Great Lakes which is very nice. I really do feel better now that I received the letter but I was a little teary eyed when I received the box. I am also wishing the time away just to see him again. I told my son in the letter that I want him to order pics and I will pay for them. I'm hoping when he writes me that he gives me more information about that. Well I guess we can exchange info as it comes. Hopefully by graduation day we will know everything we need to know. I really like this site........it's been very helpful and informative. How far away do you live?

I live in Shawnee, Kansas. It's about a 9hr drive. I agree, this site has been very helpful. I'm looking forward to the next call. Keep on touch!
I just recieved my letter!! My son graduates on June 3rd also. I am so excited that I finally recieved something other than the dreaded "box". My son will be going to A school in Meridian Miss. I am so proud of him!!!

Yes there will also be a street address and that will be on the form letter.

@Margo - Make sure to put the Division on the letter.

Hello,

My son graduates on 6/3 also.  He is Ship 11, Div 186.  I also received his letter today!  We will be coming from Sacramento, California.  This site is very informative! Can't wait for graduation.  What does everyone mean by A School?  I know what Grad and Go is...and he isn't that.  Thanks!

I guess receiving the form letter wasn't enough........now I'm anxiously waiting for a real letter from him. Although knowing him it will only be a few lines lol, but thats okay with me as long as he writes.

This is kind of disturbing to me......... I had spoke with my scheduler from work and told her that I wasn't sure when my son would be graduating from BC but I would let her know as soon as I got the letter and she said that we would work something out. So I received the letter and emailed her right away and she replies that I will have to find my own coverage, although she had originally told me that she needed at least 6 weeks notice. I'm sure that if it were her son or daughter that she would be upset if someone told her that they would work with her and then turn around and put the extra worry of having to find coverage on her. Luckily I work with some great people and I almost immediately found coverage, but it still makes me mad. Sorry all........ I just needed to vent.

@Donna R

Some just don't get it.  Be grateful for your co-workers :)  Isn't it nice to know that you work with people that care? My issue is that I'm suppose to have my cell phone on vibrate while at work.  I told my boss that I would have to keep my cell phone on at all times due to a phone call from my recruit.  I'm grateful that I have a boss that understands.

Did your son write you a note at the end of the form letter?
