For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

SHIP 14 DIVISION 291
Hello to everyone that has a son/daughter in Ship 14 Division 291. If you are like me you are anxiously awaiting your actual letter from your SR or a phone call. I find myself always looking on NavyforMoms for others to share what I am going through and to learn what to expect. I have done so much reading that my son may be very surprised that I actually came around to learning more about the Navy. I am proud of his decision to join the Navy and can not wait to see him in his uniform. I will be sure to bring tons of kleenex to the graduation because if it is anything like when he graduated High School I am sure I will need them. So I look forward to hearing about your experiences along the way and will let you know of mine.

Hi... I keep looking and I'm not seeing anyone else on their ship/division. Glad you responded... it gives me a sense of some connection to my son Chris. The first week was hell but at least I am not crying as much as I was. I was disappointed beyond when the form letter arrived and there was no personal note from him!!! I have so many emotions and as supportive as my family and friends are, the truth is that other moms are the only ones who understand. Even my husband doesn't understand on the same level as you and other moms would... He is my oldest and although we knew this was his destination it came upon us sooner than expected. He went to college on a basketball scholorship and we expected him to stay all four years and then go in. He knew he would get resistence from us to finish school but boy did he do his homework before telling us his plans changed. He had an answer for every question and we couldn't argue. But the deal is that he finished his education!! We are so very proud, as I am sure we all are. I just miss him so very much. I apologize for being so long winded...just needed to vent to someone who understands. Thank you!

I completely understand...when I received my form letter I was hoping he could have wrote more but I was happy none the less that he was able to write I Love U! I have read a few post that say they are not allowed to write notes so most of them try to sneak a little something in. I have also seen a lot of posts from other mothers that had received their form letter with no note. So don't be discouraged we will be getting their letters soon. My son Dylan has just graduated High School a year ago and went straight to technical school following that but had problematic with transportation so he decided to move back home to go to school closer to home. But before the new semester began he decided to join the Navy. I was just as happy because I knew that he would still be furthering his education. As far as other mothers with sons/daughters in the same division I have not come across any others either. Maybe some of them just haven't received their form letter yet. And don't worry about your husband not understanding that is what we are here for. As each day is getting better for me I am sure it will for you too. Let's hang in there together. Well going to get my day started.

Hi, We received our form letter yesterday. My son must have not had the chance to write anything either. But at least we have his address now. We have already booked our room at the Navy Lodge and now are in the process of looking for airplane tickets. I also cried when my son left. I cried for two weeks. It does seem to get a little better each day but there is not a moment that I don't think about him. My husband is a retired chief so you think I would be use to this but it is different when it is your first child to leave home. But my son was excited about his decision so I guess I should be too.
