For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Son in hospital
I received a call early this morning from my son. He is in the hospital. They are still running tests. The last thing I heard was that the surgeon was coming in to talk to him. My son sounds okay. He said even though he was almost done with P week. He has to redo P week. He is not real happy about that. I asked him where his head was and he is ready to get back to boot camp and get it done. For what it's worth he said the food was good and the worst part is the beginning of P week. At the end of P week they started to calm down a bit. Just not sure what is going to happen.

It sounds like they expect this to be a temporary thing and for him to be able to make it to PIR. Is he with his same division or was he moved to a new division in a later TG? Being on LLD for a short time this early on should not affect his ability to make it to PIR on time.

Awesome! I'm so relieved for all of you. Him especially. Let us know when he gets his PIR and if it changes. My heart goes out to you Chippersmom. We all know what is involved in preparing our child and our family for this adventure (although I'm not sure I would call it something so fun sounding). Good Luck! and I Pray for his speedy recovery!

Hey Everyone, I just want to thank everyone for the kind words and support. I talked to my son this morning he is in a great mood. He is being discharged from the hospital this morning and going back to boot camp. He is extremely focused and ready to do this thing! One thing I have learned through all of this is no news is good news. I know it is hard on all you moms that haven't heard anything yet. That means they are doing what they need to be doing and they are fine. It's when you get a phone call before the three week period is when you need to worry. I did get to talk to my son a few times while in the hospital and he told me all about P week and some funny stories that happened. So it's not all serious. Some of the things he thought he would struggle with are no longer a big deal. Boot camp really does change them for the better. Oh I got my sons form letter and opened it while he was on the phone. Obviously I was not as excited because the letter is now obsolete. So now I get to wait again for a new form letter and to hear if he started P week over again or got to finish up the last couple of days with a new division. I know no matter where you are in the process it is hard.I am praying for all the recruits, the ones that are coming home and the ones that are there. We are all in this together.
