Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Still no letter

I am going to call her recruiter on Monday just to see if I can find out anything. I was looking at pictures of my kids today and just broke down. I sure do miss my baby girl and really hate this not knowing anything and not being able to talk to her. I am use to text or calls every couple days and we are almost 2 weeks with nothing. I know I need to get used to it but that is easier said then done. I am hoping to hear something next week.

Momma'sGirl- 2 weeks is not unusual!! The form letter often does not arrive until week 3 after they ship. My sailor shipped on a Thursday and was on P-hold waiting for others to show up so everything took longer for him than for others who shipped on the same day. You If it has been 4 weeks and nothing then you can call the recruiter but at 2 weeks it is still early. I know it's hard!! We live in an age of instant communication and waiting even a week seems like forever but the Navy does things differently! You are not alone in this!! If you want an idea of what is happening you can go to http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433 and see what they are doing nearly every day. It isn't an official page but given the number of sailors they have to get through they will likely stick pretty close to this schedule! No News is Good News!!!
