I heard that there are so many guys in Great Lakes and there were only a limited number of spaces in San Diego. My son said he heard that not everyone was going in March. He said that the rollbacks from class 281 and the top scorers in 282 on the physical test were the only ones going for sure. He really wants to get to San Diego, so I hope this info is incorrect and they all get to go! Let me know what you all hear. Happy Friday!

Hi all. Hope your having a great day. Dawni your hubby could have stayed with me in MO! Guess it depends what part he went through. That Polar Plunge was crazy wasn't it. I have been with people that do it in the Missouri River New Years morning but I chickened out and was the towel and peppermint schnapps girl. Wow that was a long time ago!
Have a great day!

Hey landlocked, do you know where Cheyene OK is? Or Radon? That's where my dad was born. He's been a Californian for most of his life but his roots are in OK. We still have some family there.

I will ask for 'traveling mercies' for him Dawn. That's a LONG drive! Does he have his music to pass the time? Hang in there with school, you can do it!

Hello there! I am semi caught up. Good advice given and taken it sounds like.
My 2 cents...My son and his GF have been dating for 3 yrs. He was 15 her 16. He knew this is what he wanted to do forever. When it came time for him to enlist she was having a hard time. Of course who wouldn't....I asked her what she thought was going to happen when he graduated...she says I know but it always seemed so far away. It did and now she is having a hard time. I have told her the same word spoken here. I was so afraid after PIR that if she kept letting him know how much she missed him and how lonely she was that it would hurt their relationship or worse wear him down so he wouldn't do well. Thank goodness things have changed and she is doing better (the cell phone helps a lot!) and is doing good. He misses home and all of us which is normal. And we do tell him we miss him and how much we love him but we are always telling him we know he can do this etc....
He left 15 days after their 3 yr anniversary. I hope this last and I can say that they are celebrating their 3 yr wedding anniversary!!
One thing that has made my son start to wonder if he will make this a life time career (SEALS) is talking to other SEALS and how they only see their families 20-30 days a yr. tough but I hope all the wives and GF hang in there. If it is meant to be it will last.
Good Luck!!

Hi
I think I left a comment here a couple of months ago. I changed my user name because it had my last name in it (I didn't know when I first signed up how it all worked). My son was in BUDS 281, but had a stress fracture in his shin and got put on light duty. He has 2 weeks left of LLD, and can't wait to get back to regular training. I live in Northern California. I miss my son and I hope his shin heals completely and doesn't get re injured! It has been nice following your group and reading the comments. he says he and all the other guys on light duty have been shoveling snow lately!
