I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend. I was on vacation from work and when you are driven by the public school calendar, Labor Day means the end of summer and back to the routine of when kids are in school. I have one left in HS (10th grade). It sure will be different when there will not be a kid in my house. That's why I've adopted pets. It helps the transition, at least for me it does. But for now...1st day of school is on Wednesday Yeah!!!

Yes he is for sure. I just got off the phone with him...finally! He doesn't want me coming down to TX. He would rather me spend the money to come with my kids when he's all done with training, so depending on when C school starts & ends...that's when I'll get to see him.

Corpsman mom, he's my best friend/boyfriend! I do have a son, but he's 15! Lol! I hope that we will be able to have time together after he graduates from A school. We were planning on February, but I think he'll be in FMTB by that time.

Thanks and yes you never can figure it out...I believe he starts the second week of October and ends mid December. He is on hold at the hospital until then. My son did get leave after A school graduation and has been home until yesterday. He also went in to his original recruiter station to put in a few days to get back some leave.  Hopefully he will use them for Dec (but who knows if that will work).

Ruth VH-December 15 I believe is the date.

Gloria-I'm a participant...I'll be on this adventure with you.lol

I've been on vacation from work since 8/24 and will return on Tuesday (yuck) and haven't missed it at all. I could get used to this only if I hit the lotto though. It was great having him home (actually he was more with his frenz) but still having him home was great. It was nice to see his frenz come back around.

Hi Cali-Mom!  I thought the last class started already!  Boy, when you think you have the Navy figured out...bam!  I guess we won't really!  I'm trying to figure this all out since we are trying to fit in a vacation!  We have decided on visiting Cali with my Sailor....but from the sound of it...they may get leave before heading to FMTB?  Any details would be most welcome!

Congrats to your son on his accomplishment!!

I'm new and I just added this group as the next train stop on this ride. I dropped my son off yesterday at CPNH and he will start FMTB in October. He graduated from A school 2 weeks ago and he was home for leave until yesterday : (  But I think he will be able to come home for the long weekend. He will be at CP til December. So I'm on this ride....any other newbies along with me?

I don't expect he'll start FMTB until the end of January. A school classes are thought to start on the 8th so that makes for a December graduation. I'm just not sure if they send him on leave between a school & FMTB...there in lies our dilemma! That break would work out well for our vacation with my kids...but makes the planning so hard when you don't know what to expect or if the powers that be decide differently!

My son went through FMTB from October of last year until mid-December.  Can't believe it's been almost an entire year!  Crazy!

Good luck to your son Gloria and hopefully you'll get a few more classmates.

Ruth- he asked me to research it because he wasn't getting any info (or different answers) from his recruiter. So, I called my Navy friend. But she was active duty 20 yrs ago. She said if she could take a look at his orders she could tell us...so I'll have to see if he can get them to me.
If I read the site right the last class of the year began 8/1 ...
