Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

proudascanbe, my son was given liberty to stay with me after graduation until he flew out on Sunday to his PDS. We left the base right after graduation (three sea bags and a back pack) and stayed in San Diego for the weekend.

I can't believe how fast FMTB is flying by for my son! I guess I had better look into hotels in the area for his graduation. What do you experienced Corpsman moms recommend?

I think most guys take a some leave after FMTB. I am always afraid to say, "yes" anything. Things in the Navy are never predictable.

Does anyone know if the Corpsman are allowed to stay the night off base once they've graduated FMTB? My son is supposed to go to Okinowa shortly after graduation (but who knows how soon that will be). I'm just wondering if he'll be able to stay with us the weekend of graduation.

On base housing we get regular mail, our address doesn't even indicate that we are on base. We move in on 6/10. Package delivery would be fun. My husband said," Get that Doc his cookies!"

Ya, we were a chatty crew.
I always want to remind that I am at Camp Pendleton almost everyday and will be moving about a mile from Devil Doc Hall in a week. I can deliver items or help out with anything. Please don't be afraid to ask.

is it just me though or is this round of loved ones a lot less talkative then the last. oh well not a bad thing, just noticed it. maybe we just have more questions about it. hope all of you are having a good day and have a happy and safe memorial day!

JLC - sounds like your son is getting his bearings! Just wait until he starts exploring! Mine took some leave and flew to Paris this past weekend. Wow! He's only been in a year and he has been to Chicago, San Diego, all over Italy and now France. Amazing.
Gloria - I'm sure your son is like all of ours and will love the adrenaline pumping craziness that goes on in FMTB!! He sure has seen a lot and been to a lot of places. I really enjoy this group although my son finished FMTB last December!

I guess my son was lucky then as he went straight from A school to few weeks off before starting FMTB. He loved it and now is at a clinic bored. He is looking into taking classes for his RN while he is stationed there.

West Pac is the name of the military hotel on Camp Foster for all bases on Okinawa. Airfare is outrageous. I don't remember but Orbitz or Expedia will tell you when prices go up and down. ANA prices were the lowest. Food blah!!! LOL
