The calls were welcomed no matter what time they came. Sometimes I just had to wake up. The scarey ones  for typhoons and tsunamis were like a bad dream.

For us it was 16 hour difference in Okinawa. I am a substitute teacher so I would always start the class , " What time is it in Okinawa?"LOL. I am so happy to finally have them back on our time zone. It makes you appreciate little things like time zones.:)

Wow a lot going on here. Linda prayers to the Corpsman and Marines that were hurt for a speedy recovery.

JLC glad to hear the guys are going to get on with their assignment, waiting can be so hard.

MrsS my son is working in a clinic also doing sick call. He has been pretty busy lately getting settled in Nevada and recovering from a car accident his first week there. He was a passenger and had neck pain so know he had whiplash. What a way to start a new assignment. He may be coming home for a visit this weekend, sure hope so would be great to see him.

Carol you and your son are in my prayers, this is such a stressful thing for us Moms to have to go through. My son would really like to be attached to a Marine unit and go green, makes this moms heart skip a beat.

Okinawa would remind me of Minnesota in the summer, humidity and rain. I really miss the thunderstorms in the summer, never thought I would. In Cali the rain is usually in the winter when it is cold although we are still getting some here in April.

So glad to hear the Okinawa guys are getting to go! Sounds like they will miss our beautiful CP weather.

Any word on the guys in Afghanistan? Corpsman are an amazingly brave bunch of guys, so are their Marines

Dear JLC,

Just to let you know Okinawa in the summer is hot and humid!!! I visited my daughter and SIL last summer. Your clothes are damp all the time either from the sudden rain or humidity. I am not exaggerating. They had a machine in their closet that helped to keep their clothes dry. Do you know what Camp he will be at?

Thoughts and prayers go out to all! Especially ones hurt in any way. Physically, emotionally, mentally!!

Linda - I will keep them all in my prayers and hope for a speedy recovery for all of them.

Carol - Ditto for you and your son.  There are no words that will take that worry away, just know that we are all here if you need support.  I'm sure you've joined the Afghan Group and will find much support there also.  Navy Mom Hugs to You...

V - welcome to the Group!!  I've been following a friend whose son just left yesterday for boot.  Oh I would never want to go through that again...

I know two Corpsman classing up next week. My corpsman graduated Corps school last July, almost everyone went FMTB. I don't know what to think either. Mine is now attached to the AAV Unit at Pendleton. He also does sick-call for FMTB.

Anybody's corpsman classing up for FMTB this next week?

Comment by Pam on April 15, 2011 at 9:22am

Mariann - I'm pretty sure they take everything that has been issued to them.  My son had two seabags and a bag of civilian clothing.  He will have inspections during the eight weeks of FMTB.

Ruth - what a great visit you had!!  Makes your heart swell with pride!
