Hey all, I have discovered gold. (not really-but I've discovered something really good). If you all find yourselves visiting hotels more than usual because of now having a sailor (I know we have-we've been in hotels 2 out of 3 weekends getting over to Justin while he's in A schooling at Pensacola) I wanted to share this...the Quality Inn group has a free program called the Choice Priveleges rewards program. From Feb 5th-the end of April if you have 2 different stays you earn a free night on your next visit. And it's repetitive. You can keep earning over and over for 2 more stays, etc. Aside from that promo period they have their normal program where you can still accrue for free stays, etc. There is a Quality Inn right there on Corry Station property that we stayed at. It was nice. Clean, safe, reasonable pricing, free bfast and they're very friendly. See choicepriveleges.com. Happy free hotel stays!

Thanks, Diane. We're back from PNS. Justin has his car. Silly Orlando tag office misinformed me, however, and insisted that they all would be open Monday even though it was President's day. So he got his insurance, the tag is valid but in our name, so I emailed him a scan of the title and we went and got a not notarized while there in PNS to give him permission to do whatever he needs to do with the registration/title (that's what the entrance way police officer told us to do). Hated to leave him like that because he's so young but we had no choice. The police thought'd be fine. There was no one to check with because they all were off on Monday also.

OK....Jody POA>..that is something you need to dicuss with your son. There are different types of POA..My DIL has a "total" POA....also my son is on deployment on someone needs to have it. As far as expense , there are services are base that help you with all the paper work needed. Don't sweat it. As far as having his car in P-cola, I don't have any advice on that. I do not know of any -from my end that - sailors that have had their vehicles in A school. YOu know.....Ask that question in the P-cola A school group. I am more then sure you can get the right answer there.
And thanks Lynne...come on girls RSVP to our event......

Happy Valentine's Day back at ya, Leah. We're heading to Pensacola to see one of our Valentine's (our son on the base). Can't wait to see him. Dread the drive. Now we have to drive 2 cars. He wants his car and his commander has approved it.

Derrrr.....I just realized part of my question is silly. I guess you'd get a power of attorney at an attorney's office? Our good friend is an attorney so I guess I better ask him....but I still want your expertise on the question below I

Okay you moms with sailors in further stages than ours who just got to 'A' school, I need your expertise. Justin thinks he can have his car in PNS and we're going this weekend. I called USAA hearing that it would be cheaper for our 18 yr old than what he was paying to be on our policy. I called USAA and they said they couldn't talk to me or give me a quote because we don't have power of attorney for him. Do we need to do that-get power of attorney? If so, how/where do we do that and is it very costly? It got me thinking that it's probably a good idea.
