hey all of you 'experienced' moms...are we allowed to put our sons pictures and a navy graduation announcement in our local newspaper? does anybody know if i have to check with somebody on that? we have a local 'conway news' community paper that is distributed once a month. i'd like to put it in there.

Kellie-yes PIR was beyond amazing. I'm so very thankful that we were all able to go. My parents live in Indiana and were going to go but decided not to so I can't wait to get the DVD to share with them. Let me ask you (or any other experts out there)...when they graduate A school is that something that we'll also want to plan to go to see? Do they do the graduation pictures there too? I'm trying to decide to order more wallets now to put in this years xmas cards or wait and see if there's pictures there also. Justin paid about $300 for his pix because he got a bunch of frames that we had to lug on the plane. Now I see why he ordered the frames-they are really really nice.

Diane, Justin was suppossed to start his IT classes at 7am-4pm today, thus the reason we didn't stay any longer. We were, maybe, going to stay until today to have all of Sunday with him but since his liberty was so restricted we just decided to go and allow the girls off today to get rested before getting back to school and sports. So, it sounds like Justin was very lucky that he didn't have to wait. I know, he said some did have to wait and all they do is clean. He's 1 of 8 that were selected from his division that his RDC chose to rank up so he'll hopefully do that soon. He didn't really know much of anything since he didn't arrive PNS until 10:30pm Friday night. He was to find out stuff today. You, too, have a wonderful week.

Jodi, so glad you got to see your sailor. Take each moment as a "precious" one!
They are few and far between.
That was great that you flew to Pensacola to see him. You are lucky that you were able to do that.
So when he gets phase up, you will have a bit more time with him.
When are his classes "supposed" to begin?
I have read on here that Pensocola has a real long hold! I hope he can class up and get done and on with his Navy career.
Good luck!
Have a great week!

Susan, welcome to our group. You'll love it. Diane-I'm game for whatever you all plan/do-I'll be there with whatever is needed. We just arrived back last night at midnight from all of our travels. We went to PIR 1/29. We went to the meet n greet that night at Flanagans and was glad that we did. The PIR was AWESOME beyond our wildest dreams. I did well-I wasn't the blubbering fool I thought I'd be but I was really fighting to not be. Full tears didn't come until I hugged my son as we all had tears then. We laughed at our youngest daughter. We they allowed us to go to get our sailor she almost jumped the gun and went to early then when it was time we said she was pushing old ladies out of the way and stomping on dogs to get to him-haha she was just anxious and wanted her brother. We only had 1 hr with him in Great Lakes because he was that awful grad n go and they didn't change it (as we'd hoped they would). So we then flew to Pensacola to be with him over the weekend. That didn't work as planned. He was allowed liberty but very limited-he couldn't go off base and all we could do was visit in the car or at the Exchange. We got 1 1/2 hrs w/him Saturday and double that yesterday. Our flight got back in at midnight last night. We'll go back to see him after 10 days when he's allowed more lenient liberty. I'm sure glad that I didn't watch any of the PIR videos or look at anything to do with that, I think it made it more special that way. I'm seeing that goodbyes are going to be really tough on me. I held back so that I wouldn't get Justin started crying when we left but as soon as we pulled away I was one big baby. Wow, moms, it's really tough-isn't it?

ok...since our first get together was such a HUGE success....I vote on another.
I am having an early dinner and drinks next friday with a few moms.
But I am suggesting and planning our next HUGE get together
I am planning the 2nd weekend in March.
I also "suggest" that we all, once again bring items for our"adopt a sailor" {OH also a pot for mailing fees-] for those of you who haven't already joined. We have a group called "Molly adopt a sailor project" each month a random group of deployed sailors are chosen and those who wish to particpate send cards, letters-boxes, whatever you chose..It lifts our deployed sailor spirits as well as ours.
I vote for downtown orlando again {if anyone objects let me know}
I was hoping for a late lunch early dinner....or wine and cheese atmosphere.
let me know what ya all think....
