Shirley, I would like to help. I need to locate the list again of the items they were requesting.

Jody, I hope you have a great time in Seattle with your son. That sounds so exciting. What a great husband! Enjoy, you will have memories that will last a very long time and will hopefully give you and him comfort when he is gone on his deployment. I am hoping to go and see my son next month in Va Beach.

heading out tomorrow morn on a very 'impromptu' flight to Seattle to see Justin before he deploys to the middle east shortly. I just saw him 2 weeks ago when he came home but my hubby suggested since I was on semester break for a week starting tomorrow that I should go see Justin because he's starting to sound a little down. I figured I'd call and Justin wouldn't really want his mom to come but, low and behold, he does so I'm off. it's Mike's and my 25th wedding anniversary too but since it was his idea I'll go for it. like he said when I asked him if he was sure he wanted me to be gone he said, "we have plenty of time to celebrate that". I do, after all, only have 1 son. anxious to see Justin. staying at the Navy Lodge on base for $45 per night-woohoo. I've never been in WA before so looking forward to seeing that beautiful country. Mike saw it when he drove out with him last May when he moved there. luckily I fly free so I can just hop on a flight. planning on coming back Monday. Justin said his commander is not even making him work Friday or Monday so he can be with me. I'm shocked and amazed at how nice they've been to him...didn't expect that from the military.

Denise, I'm pretty sure it can't be done. The car would have to be titled, tagged and insured under the owners (yours) name unless you wanna trust him to owe you the difference and go ahead and hand over the title...that is risky but I'd say more worth it than the alternative and letting him drive 'your' car around risking the problem if he gets into an accident. this is only what I know from us selling cars, titling our sons car and once working in a bank. if you could walk into a local tag office and get their expert advice would be best-it is hard to try to get thru on the phone lines.

Mary: Justin bought both cars on his own. the convertible he paid cash for after he saved up a while. the Sonata he got a loan on. we don't hand everything to our kids to keep them in check. we make them pay their own gas and their own insurance. terrified how Brittany's gonna do it since their's no jobs to be found. and yes, you are brilliant with the poems. I used to be able to do that when I was young but I've lost the knack. it's cute tho

Denise, my son has a 99 convertible but knew it wouldn't make it on the long drive out to WA state. Justin moved out there last May and my husband drove out with him. on his 2 weeks home after A school and before heading out to his base in WA he wanted a new car so this is the first car loan he's had. now he wants to trade it off for a truck. he gave his convertible to his sisters for when they start to drive. he didn't want to be out there with no car and I don't blame him. plus he's got money to burn, single guy, no expenses and getting paid. this upcoming deployment will be his very first deployment-which I guess he's lucky for that as some moms sons came into the Navy after ours and have already been away and gotten back on a deployment or two.

I'm glad to hear that your sister in law is okay! I was in a bad wreck April 08 on I4 (not my fault) and my car got totaled and it's messed my back up to where I can't do the daring things I used to do (rollercoasters, a long day at Universal, etc).

Mary, my hubby double checked with his dad who was one of the top dawgs in a tree company and also has owned collectors cars that sat. he said to fill the car up with gas, crack the windows just a little bit so it doesn't get musty and put the car on mats (to not let it sit on cement). prob other stuff too but that's what I picked up on that my hubby said. Justin has a new car but he's freaking out because he went to see where they keep the vehicles of those that have deployed and he said the tires were low and bird poop all over them. he's contemplating paying for his storage. since he's out in WA state there is no one there to watch his car. NOW....could day be your day to see your son? I hope so!

Mary, fantastic. I know you're just on needles and pins right now. Justin is on count down now. where he's going I guess they're the first troops in there-not making me comfortable. he called last night to find out how to prep his car since he'll be gone for at least 6 mos. so Mike told him full tank, crack windows, tires on mats, etc. this is gonna be so different.

Denise, wonderful that he will be relatively close. Justin did his A schooling there too. he only had 1 hr with us at PIR before he had to leave for the airport but since I'm an airline retiree we all fly for free so we flew to PNS and spent the weekend with him there. it was very limited time though because they aren't allowed to do much and since he was checked in when all superiors were gone there was no one to ask permission of. we made several trips back and forth to see him in PNS.
