The ship MUST have SKYPE....I know Shawn's ship DOES NOT have it, so you he does need to have a laptop with him in order for it to work! and only when in port! and sometimes that cannot get internet where they are! so ship's email is the BEST OF THE BEST way to chat with your sailor

Diane, Justin isn't on a ship. at this point, he's once said, he's not sure if he'll even have ship duty. he's at Whidbey Island, WA on the navy/marine air base. all he's said I can say is that he's heading to the middle east. we do have skype but Justin's just not sure how much contact he'll be able to have. he'll learn more in these next few weeks, I'm sure.

OH Jodi, just till Christmas...Ah that's a walk in the park!!!! It will be hard the first 2 months..then you will be an old prof. ...What ship is he on???? I don't remember reading that! What tour is he doing? EX...South Pac...RIM PAC..MED PAC...etc....he will know!!!!
Mary....Check your son's cell phone provider!!!! Shawn got international added to his phone for FREE....but it would still cost .99 a minute to call. He has JUST IN CASE OF EMERGANCY. Shawn also has an "International Cell phone"...that can get pricy...but Shawn has learned from his last deployment, that ports, don't always mean phone calls!!!! most of the time..but not always..Shirley you can back me up on this one!!!! I believe your boys will learn more on the first deployment and pick up things from the seasoned sailors on what to and what NOT to do!!!! Its all learning...
LET me get SD under my belt...And then we can ...do a packing party!!! ♥

Happy Easter all....I hope you had a blessed and wonderful Easter. we put Justin on a plane at 7:45am today back to his base-so the day started out with tears. because of weather probs he just arrived about an hour ago. this was his last leave before deploying (1st deployment) in about a month. so we won't be seeing him again until prob Christmas. this will be our longest stretch without seeing him and since he's deploying internationally we won't get to speak to him. we're stopping his cell phone until he gets back because it's far too expensive for him to fathom using it at $3.99 per minute, and that's even if they'd allow him.
