Shirley, your son was in BC March 9, 2009? he is soon to get back from deployment right? my son graduated Jan 30, 2009 and isn't deploying for a month or so (1st deployment). so, if that's the case, he's lucky he hasn't had to go til now.

EEK! I was going to post this before and forgot....today is Justin's 20th bday (have already shed my tears because we aren't together). if any of you would like to send a belated card email me at maniacix40@aol.com.

suggestion along that line....I was doing soooo good mailing bday cards out to everybody's sailor then I forgot to keep checking in. if you all want to do such as I have and put in a reminder about your sailors bday I think it would help forgetful people like me.

Justin is coming home for leave on a redeye Thursday this week before his first deployment happens soon. we only have him until Easter Sunday. flights are very full (he flies standby on my pass for free) so I told him he's coming home on a wing and a prayer. so we're hoping and praying to see him soon.

Justin didn't get the blue jacket of the quarter. it was announced yesterday. he wasn't disappointed, he wasn't excited to have been nominated for it. I think (at least it sounds) like it was an honor to even be nominated though.

Diane, thanks. that's helpful and great to know! I'll alert Justin to how his answer should fall if asked that question. thanks, too for the kudos on the steno and medical tests. I am averaging an A in both classes and I do sooo love it. who'd of thought I could do so well after being out of school for 31 yrs. Mary used to be a court reporter and she's giving me great encouragement and information.

BJQ is Sailor of the Quarter! Shawn got it last quarter, then received Sailor of the year!
BJ is for E1-E3
Then there is
Junior Sailor of the Quarter which is
E4-E6-? have to double check how far it goes up..
then there is Sailor of the Quarter which is, I believe is E7-?
Each Quarter goes up against each other for Sailor of the year..
Then is goes on ...to base ..then fleet....then on and on!!

Jody, it's awesome to be nominated! They have to go before a "board" and YES they have to "brush" on somethings.
Shawn said they asked him "opinionated" questions...
He got asked What he thought of Obama??? his answer was "he is my commander and chief" .....(that's period)....that is the answer.
You have to remember BJ of the Quarter is a representive of the ship! So must have a good outlook on the current adminstration..YOu know what I mean...
(geez can't spell worth a dam today or for that fact ever)...Jody maybe I need to learn steno! lol
Saw how well you did on your test!! Awesome JOB JOBY!
Hibiggstfan!....what you are talking about is Tampa Navy week, right?
Lt Hecht contacted me last year about it! we chatted a bit about it!
