oh my gosh, Terry, I can't believe this. what trauma Jen has been put thru today. I know she was so terribly worried and them delaying it a week, I'm sure, is not her choice to have happened and now her daughter. yes, indeed, strong prayers out again for her (and you too). thanks for letting us know.

Just noticed Cotobird that your soon to be sailor is in a "900" division, they are "performing" divisons, which mean...first KUDOS to your son!!! also, his division will perform at HIS PIR as long as the few weeks just before, whether it be state flags, drill etc...When you write to him "ask"..

Hi everyone. I had a wonderful time at my son's PIR! Spending time with him for the whole weekend was so emotional because most traces of my little boy are gone and I am left with this confident young man who has a PLAN for the rest of his life ...a Plan...who knew??? I am so proud of him and I am now officially a Navy groupie as I bought everything I saw that said "Proud Navy Mom" LOL Jaime is staying at Great Lakes for A-School, which is on hold...:( He will be an ET . kinda glad for the hold although he is not...The way I see it...it will be much easier to hop a plane to Chicago for the weekend rather than a ship in the middle of the ocean...hehehe

I read about Moms and phone cards, I NEVER sent one to Shawn but he called, in fact quite a bit. Some do and some don't get to call! Have to ask him HOW? he did it. He wife now, girlfriend then was in the NAVY and told him "EXACTLY" from Day 1 till Week 8 what he would be doing and what was expected of HIM. He kept saying, Heather (wife) really prepped me for this!!! I could see that "grin" on his face through the phone!!! seriously DON"T bring anything..your I.D ..maybe a bible (small) if he likes...I do know Shawn went with NOTHING!!! I mean NOTHING!
As for the Life insurance...They are started out on 400K of life insurance! And as they get deeper into their navy career can get more! So yes, excellent benefits! Health..Dental..life..Dental plan as with all dental plans, leaves some for them to deal with! but still good

Denise, I'll take this question since I sold Life Insurance last year (don't anymore). he can get a policy from anywhere. we had gotten 250k on our son and it was $90 per month. but we did cancel it when I resigned from the company. I would suggest a whole life policy at his young age-it's the cadillac of policies. however, the Navy does provide it for them once he's thru bc, I believe. Justin has his policy that way. they can get all kinds of excellent benefits, just like other employers (but, I'm sure better)
