I had one of those 'mom' moments and I know you all know what I mean. The news set me in full blubbers talking about Afghanistan. Knowing Justin time for deployment is probably coming up soon and knowing now how everybody's kids are like my own. I just couldn't take it. I miss him being here so much (would you believe my eyes are even tearing up as I type this).

Mary, I agree with you. Envision this: one day you're out and about and you see somebody wearing that t-shirt. Me-I'd walk up and say "cute shirt where did you get it" then proceed to call the cops. (don't know if it'd do any good or not by that point but I'd sure try).

Okay, Shirley, now you've done it back to me (tears in the eyes). I knew there were other moms out there that have these stories to share. Everybody tell tell tell what you've done when you seen a military person to be nice to them. I'm sure there's all kind of cool stories.

I'm up for whenever for a get together. Will be there if I/we can.

I went to Atlanta last week for 2 days. There was a huge population of military there when I went and again when I came home. On the way home I struck up conversation with 2 guys and asked if there was a base or boot camp around and he said no maam (of course) that it was those coming in from deployment but he and his buddy was going out. They were all Army and I guess it's a big hub for them. I wanted to hug each and every one of them (mom in me).

As I was flying back this young girl was trying to use the pay phone with coins and having troubles so I felt this pull to help her and told her I was a 'Navy Mom' and would she like to use my cell phone. Told her to please take her time and call all that she wished. She was so sweet and yes maamed me. I just hope that when my son is out that some other mom/dad/etc would look out for him (she looked about Justin's age-19). Ya know...that just made my heart feel so very very good. I'm sure each and every one of you have done this it was just my first opportunity and the joy it gave me is unmatched. Gosh how I miss my son!

Oh, that's good news that some are going and it was only the tshirts.
Comment by diane {Shawns mom} on September 2, 2009 at 4:41pm
ONLY t-shirts....
and some of the t-shirts will make it to the ship, I had about 150 or so of them....Renee had a few boxes, Mary has a box and our recruiter had a box, so "some ' will make it!

Yeah that was the article my doctor showed me. It is awful. You did a great job on the interview....good thing it wasn't me representing as I'd be a blubbering fool (such as I am now). I'm sure they (the crooks) had no idea it was for the sailors. I hope they return them. It was only the t-shirts-right? The other boxes were okay?
