Hey, that just gave me an idea......my sister in law is Teacher of the Year for her school where she teaches in Belton, SC perhaps I could have her check into the school kids writing. But when would they need to send them to me by? Or would we have them directly send them or what? My best friend from kindergarten (we're still friends-can you believe that?) also is a teacher and she's in IN.

Our schools (here in Orlando) don't start until August 24th. I, too, had thought about having the kids write to the sailors. However, that is probably something you'd have to talk to an individual teacher about. Well, perhaps, the principal (I was thinking of in my girls classes which is middle and highschool where you'd need to approach the teacher). Preschools might be cute to have them make their own little cards up. I might go visit my kids old preschool as the director is an old friend of ours. I'll let you know if I do.

This is from the Adopt a Sailor group//
Smaller boxes work for me...
READ

Hey you wonderful moms with questions... most folks are packing the small boxes... then packing them (nine fit nicely) into the larger FPO box... That way we are sure that every sailor will have their own box to open and plenty of cards and letters! Customs forms only have to be written for the larger box.

Cookies are going in larger boxes to be shared by all. There are a couple of moms that have adopted the girls on the ship.

Keep writing cards and letters! That is our first focus and most appreciated thing we can send! Get your church groups, coworkers, scout troops, and neighbors to write a note or two! Have your kids and grandkids, nieces and nephews draw a picture if they are too young to write a note!

What a great Luau they will have laughing and sharing all of our crazy decorations, cookies and most of all cards and letters!
