Welcome, Bonnie, you'll love this group. It's a great group of ladies. We've had 2 get togethers so far and I think another one is in the making. We're happy to have you.

Welcome, Alicia. I'm in Orlando too (we live in Belle Isle). Our son just finished his A schooling in PNS a couple of weeks ago. He's suppossed to be coming home next week for 2 weeks then off to WA state where he'll be stationed. You'll love our group-it's a great group of ladies!

Nice pictures of you and your son, Ingrid. Justin is still in a state of 'I don't know what will happen' sort of thing. He's still heading to WA. His coming home for 15 days date has changed twice so I don't know if we'll still see him May 15th or not. Sure is life on the edge (as far as we're concerned) not knowing from one minute to the next what, where or when he'll be doing. Ergh...not being a military family we don't like this indecision and changing of plans that the military does. If this is the way it's gonna be we'll be cheering him home at 4 years (which is what he's thinking now-at first he wanted to be a 20 yr man but he's changed his opinion on that too).

Thanks, Diane. So they can't even divulge some things to their parents? He did say he will have more training when he gets there. I know they've been getting his security stuff done though.

In Washington is it called Bangor? Another mom from his PIR says her son just got there and rooms with a marine. I don't see any groups for Washington state. Any suggestions you can give on that for what I can join, Diane, would be appreciated.

My hubby said we should take the girls to the Central Fla Fair tonight. I said urgh...because of the expense. But I think we will. We've not been in years. The girls and I just went to Islands of Adventure cpl weeks ago-love those roller coasters!

OK now back to Jody, My son and his wife drove up to WA too...They took about 8-10 days maybe more..and made a vacation out of it...LONG DRIVE!!!!
OH and Jody....it sounds like your sailor is not telling you something, not because he doesn't want to...BUT because he CAN"T!!! I have heard stories of sailors being used in other "fields"......You should be proud....The Navy has something in mind for him...and its good...no worries....
Ok..ladies...Don't know when I am gonna get a chance to log on again....

Diane, how long has your son been in WA? WA is beautiful I'm sure but it doesn't compare to what HA would've been for both Justin and us. I'm just so concerned as to why they don't seem to be using him in his speciality. Doesn't bother him much but concerns us with what he's saying he'll be doing and it has nothing to do with IT (at least we think). He plans on buying a new (used) car when he comes home for his 15 days and then maybe driving out. If he does that my husband will drive with him and then fly back home since I know that USAir flys out of Seattle so he can fly free on my retiree benefit.

Justin called today. He's hasn't left A schooling yet (graduated week ago) and they've changed not only the date that he comes home, the length he's home but also have changed his station. No longer going to Hawaii now going to Washington State-very close to Seattle. He said he can get an air warefare pin. He's now okay with that-he was bummed at first. What saddens me is that, he said, he would be deployed to places like Iraq for a few weeks at a time. Not sure why they'd take an IT and put him on a war plane but guess that's the military for you.
