Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Paula S you talk about communication long time ago, my father is just AMAZED that the sailors have to pay for there own uniforms. My dad said they paid for their underwear and socks, everything, he just cannot believe it. Things have changed that is for sure.

Yes we are very lucky how often we do get to talk to our sailors. I have been very lucky I talk to my son just about every week sometimes more. I think if he every gets on a ship I will talk to him more because he works on computers. I hope all of you hear from your sailors soon, it makes us mom feel so good to hear from them.

JulieR, my parents live in North Port, we are going to fly into Fort Myers and drive to there house.

Your are welcome Diana.

This in no way helps not hearing from your daughter, Julie R, but my dad, a WWII veteran, and my mom have reminded us that letters were few and far between during that time. I have stacks of letters and even a few tapes (reel to reel!) sent from Vietnam. No calls, no internet. We are spoiled!

JulieR, Hope you hear from her soon. Pretty soon my sailor will be under the sea for 6 months. Not looking forward to that at all! And we ALL hate River City!!

Ruth, that is hard, there has to be someone around there to hang with. That is a good thought about the USO or a church group. I was thinking the same thing what about other instructions? We will not tell your son you asked us that questions. LOL

Well going to Florida this November for Thanksgiving to see my parents. My Dad is going to be 90 in March and my mom is going to be 88 in November so I want to see them so we are leaving the 20th and coming back on the 28th, can't wait.
