OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

NukeMommaLB -- Is your daughter at bootcamp now? I was reading back a few comments, and saw that you mentioned her ship date. Hope all is well.

Hi Donna, I am glad to hear that things are moving in a good direction for you now!

Hi Valtameri! I'm glad to hear that uniforms and clothing are going to be delivered to the sailors tomorrow. I really had no idea what we could do about clothing because of not knowing specific sizes.

I'm going to see about getting some donations of personal hygiene items and asking some stores for donations of a variety of sizes of socks, underwear, t-shirts, even a variety of bras and sending some general boxes with the various items.

Hoping that the Moms in southern New England can get some fund-raising events together to send some much needed care (love) packages out in the immediate future.

At this point the Fitzgerald hasn't been "officially" adopted by Molly's Adopt a Sailor. Just a way to get some Mom-love to our sailors who likely could use a BIG hug from home about now...

I'm now living in RI (moved a yr ago from MA). I needed to make some BIG changes to get my life moving forward again. I'm now feeling more and more like myself instead of the sad, grieving woman I was.

Hello Donna, thank you for posting that. What a sad thing to happen.

I am wondering though, with the delay in shipping, will the sailors still be in need of those items by the time we can send a box or two? I see on the Fitzgerald's FB page that the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society will be distributing uniforms and civilian clothes to the sailors tomorrow.

Hi Everyone! I saw a post on Molly's Adopt a Sailor (aka MAS) FB page today. They shared a request from the USS Fitzgerald for their sailors who lost everything.  Any donations of personal hygiene items, clothing, and even uniforms would be most appreciated.

Anyone interested in sending a package or 2 or 3, please send me a private message for more specifics.

NukeMamaB - Those are normal feelings. My son left 4 years ago on Oct 7 - his birthday! Nuke is a tough course after boot camp. As long as she does her studying and PT before BC she will be fine!

My daughter just entered DEP as a Nuke undesignated with a leave date of October 4th. Very nervous, proud and excited all at once.

HI momto navymat -- I don't think we have anyone leaving that same day. Good luck to him (and you)! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
