Dolores, I am a member of PGR! Our local members are at the Moline airport from morning till night this week and next till Christmas Eve to welcome and send off our military. It was my honor to hold a flag yesterday. My sailor son has done a couple missions in the Chicago area now. I'm hoping he gets to the Waukegan mission on Saturday.

I just tried to copy my message for FOX and apparently deleted it here. So to repeat--I live 48 miles south of Thomson Prison where the terrorists are being sent. Just 24 miles south of Thomson is Cordova Nuclear Plant. Another 24 miles south is one of two arsenals in the USA, Rock Island Arsenal within two miles of my home.

Well, it's funny considering I was an English teacher and always told my students to proofread! I'm not anal about email or blogs or typos, especially from others, but my own......

ha, I just read what I wrote. I meant I had been disgusted by a lot that was going on, not discussed! Spending the evening watching FOX news. This health bill is driving me crazy.

I haven't been on N4M for quite awhile as I was so discussed by a lot of what was going on. When Laura send me a Christmas message I noticed that she was a member of this group. Then I saw many familiar names/faces! Good to see all of you!

at 7:53 a.m. the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, sunk 4 ships, killed 2300+ military, 1100 wounded, and 70 civilians killed. My son told me to remember this day. He is in Japan now - isn't life odd? I'm not even sure thats the word I meant to use, but nothing is "for sure" in our lives EXCEPT change.

Personally I enjoyed Maxine's commentary on the speech:

I'm sure those occupying the white house are truly underwhelmed by her support.

(I know this is late considering the NEW news we received, but still a good read.)
I just returned from a trip to Afghanistan that included a meeting with General Stanley McChrystal, our top commander on the ground. The trip gave me a chance to see first-hand the challenges our military is facing. With President Obama’s long overdue announcement about the future of our troops in Afghanistan coming Tuesday, this trip was particularly timely.

In my meeting with Gen. McChrystal, we discussed his desire to see additional troops added to the mission in order to create the time and space necessary to allow Afghan security forces to be effectively trained so a functional, elected leadership can fully inherit the responsibility of governance. Election laws must be revised to empower local officials and traditional leadership bodies such as the Loya Jirga. There is a growing disaffection between the government and its people.

What I saw in Afghanistan concerns me. We have a lot of work to do. But what I've seen over the last few months from the Obama administration concerns me even more. We have needed action and resolve but have been left with meetings, discussions, and indecision. It is ironic that the same President who pushed for big government spending policies in record time has been unable to decide about a vital national security issue that directly impacts the safety and security of our troops. We have an uphill climb but the White House’s delays in forming a strategy have only led to added uncertainty, instability, and risk for the Afghans and for our troops on the ground.

This Congress must support our troops wherever they are stationed, no matter where or what the mission is. Success in Afghanistan is not something the United States can achieve alone - there must continue to be a combined, international effort that does not focus solely on military action, but also enhances the economic and political capacity of the Afghan people.
Congresswoman Kay Granger

Mary, mine had watch yesterday also, but did get to eat, LOL! He gave me an address in Iowa where they set up an account for overseas military. So I send his PS3 and games and TV to him there and they send it on to him.
